VMS7 Platinum- Failed Projects Need Some Help

I'm a former Pinnacle 9 looking for a stable, capable video program. P purchased VMS7 Platinum. I have a DVD I need to compile & produce. I've been playing around with the program, but I have not been very successful.

I've tried to make a practice DVD with various results.

1. The video begins with a few still shots then video. When I burned it to a DVD, it only played the first 30 seconds of a 3-minute video.

2. Tried it again. This time the still pics flashed by (so quickly, you couldn't tell what they were), but the entire video portion played fine.

*Both times I had it take me directly to Video Architect Studio so I could include a menu.

When I preview my work it plays fine in the Movie Studio program. The occurances above were the final product. When I saved the project onto my HDD, it worked fine. Am I doing anything wrong?

Another question: Would it be worth my money to buy a Vegas 6 book?

I certainly would appreciate any help.

The manual for "The Full Vegas" has way more content than the VMS-manual - and you should be able to fetch it from:
http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/download/step2.asp?DID=698

It does, of course, describe features, that are not present in VMS - but I have used it anyway and am happy with it.
