When reopening a project that was saved the media files are not responsive, they appear as black thumbnails. I have made several DVDs in the past with no problems such as this. I am running Windows 7-64 bit. Some of the times the program opens fine, but not always. I have reinstalled Vegas from sonycreative software, but the problem still surfaces .HELP !!

What model of camcorder is your video from and what format and resolution is it?

Was this video captured on this computer or transferred from another computer/

Since you are discussing "reopening" a project, is it safe to assume that this project used to work fine? What has changed? Did you, for instance, transfer your media and project file from an older computer to your new Windows 7 machine?

The video comes from the Bushnell HD Trail cam, these videos are in a AVI format ,but these files are not in the usual AVI format therefor are not recognized by Vegas. therefor have to convert them . I use the OJO Soft HD converter to convert them to some thing that Vegas recognizes. I convert the files to WMS 1080p video ,Vegas opens these files in the project media window. They can be loaded into the time line, then are adjusted to fit the viewer. After loading the time line, adding music and text then saving the project. then reopening the saved project, some times the files open then , some times the files do not open in the downloaded media window. they appear as black files.

Download MediaInfo from Sourceforge and tell us what's in those files.
There is likely a much easier solution than third-party conversion.

Good luck getting a fix on this... I've been dealing with this issue for a long time, and no help.

version 10 has bad code, and since it is low cost, Sony could care less to fix it...

Here is my thread showing the same problem. Once your project has this bug, you pretty much just need to start a new project to get rid of it...

Just keep closing and re-opening until it works and all the clips are there, then render it, and start a new project with your rendered file as the base... That is the work around I currently use.

Oh, and DON'T use the software that comes with the camera/action cam to store your video files, Sony doesn't play well with other software when you pull from there into VMS.

Take your files from the camera/action cam, and put them in a folder on your computer, and pull the files from that folder into Vegas. That is the only "fix" that I know of that actually works...
