VOB files

Have Recently installed 6.0b. I have around 3 and a half hours of dvd fottage as a number of .VOB files. I have tried to copy these files onto the timeline - I end up getting about 30seconds of a one hour file on the timeline - it also tends to jump into a frame from another area of the original dvd. The original disc had about 30 chapters and seems to have been split into 4 .VOB files.

Any advice on how to solve problem greatly appreciated - loads of editting to do v. little time.

Thanx

Managed to get fie onto time line but every 30 seconds it restarts back at begining of hour long file. I think its due to "fade handles" but can't seem to get ride of them help please.....

try to rename the file with and .mpeg2 file name and see if that helps

Change the name of the file to the extension .MPG and you should be OK

Changing to .mpg file made no difference unfortunately.
What happens with both is when i drag the file to timeline it appears to be only 40sec long (actually about an hour). When i drag the timeline out all the footage is there but there is a "fade handle" every 40sec which when platback hits it returns to the first 40sec of the file. Can't find how to remove fade handles. Any suggestions?

Have you tried using the File / Import / Camcorder DVD disc function?

If the File / Import / Camcorder DVD disc function doesn't work. Try this (apologies if this is how you did it in the first place!!!!!)
Insert the original DVD and open it. Open the Video_TS file. Copy the VOB files onto your hardrive. You can ignore the VOB file without a number ( Video_TS.VOB) all the others will be VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_02.VOB and so one. These will be quite lengthy so you may want to try one at a time. Once copied change the file name to end in MPG instead of VOB. Hopefully you will now be able to load it into SVMS.
Good luck
