volume envelope

How do I use the volume envelope if i just want part of the track to be lowered...say a few seconds...then the rest of the track to return back to the original level....or does the whole track stay lowered..?

Double clicking on the envelope creates "nodes" or pivot points, so you can ramp the volume up, down and back again wherever you want.
