I upgraded from 22 to 23 last month and am having a very frequent issue with Vegas hanging up when I pause or hit stop until Windows says it needs to close the program. I know when it's about to happen because the preview will start endlessly calculating/loading (ellipses after the frame number) and then freeze altogether once I try to stop playback. Audio will continue to play until I forcefully terminate Vegas. It seems to happen when several FX are being used at once, more specifically when OFX plugins are in the mix; both NewblueFX and Boris Continuum effects can cause it. Both plugins worked fine in VP 22 and they are running their latest versions.
I don't think it's necessarily a media file contributing because so far my project is just several layered PNG's, a GIF, a text generator, and an MP3, but maybe I could be wrong.
Things I've tried so far:
- Adjusting the preview quality
- Re-installing VEGAS Pro 23.0 (build 302)
- Changing Nvidia drivers from Studio to Gaming
- Enabled hang detection in the internal settings (this proved unhelpful because the crash report shows little happening, other than a breakpoint error in the minidump due to me hitting the terminate button)
Setup:
- OS: Windows 10 22H2
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
- GPU: GeForce RTX 4070 Super
Hardware acceleration is enabled and my GPU is detected by Vegas. Hopefully I'm not forgetting any other details here. Any troubleshooting tips would be super appreciated.
