VP10 - Missing Plug or Preset?

Grazie wrote on 2/29/2012, 2:57 AM
OK, I've got a problem with a project that informs me that I've a missing plug or preset. It is noted 5 times when I open the project, but how do I track it down so I can zap it once and for all?

All I'm getting is this within the error warning, but it IS the same thing:

1a3bb69a-930b-43e3-b258-297ec4ee2f3a

I'm assuming it is one of those deep-throat registry thingies. But how do I track it down to something in "English" that I can remedy.

Now, here's the thing, if it is AWOL, then how COULD I track it down?

TIA

Well, I went and did the "Run "Regedit"". Plopped in the:

1a3bb69a-930b-43e3-b258-297ec4ee2f3a

in the search in regedit, and it came back with the Mike Crash Deinterlace thing, which I uninstalled, prior to installing YADIF I did the other day.

So, uninstall has left this remnant lurking. But why, in all things logical, when I DON'T have it present in any of the "Mike Crash" projects any more, why does Vegas as report it can't find it? Eh?

Any thoughts?

A result.

Previously I uninstalled Mike's Deinterlace USING the MS uninstall.

So, brain-wave here, I reinstalled Smart Deinterlace from MC and then saw an "MC uninstall" WITHIN the Windows Uninstall option. So I used that! That mopped it up and now I don't get that warning appearing.

interesting - when you gave the string i searched in regedit and turned up nothing on my main pc (which doesn't have any crash plug ins).
about ten minutes ago i happened to do the same on my laptop (no, i don't usually do such research even for venerable members such as yourself) and up popped said filter string.

perhaps you've left it lurking in a single event somewhere in the veg?

ps: installed 595 and am neutral so far - but then again i haven't done anything noteworthy with it yet ;-)

"So, uninstall has left this remnant lurking. But why...Caution! The following is a guess and only a guess.

As I recall, the Mike Crash Deinterlacer is installed as a Media FX - correct? If so, even after an uninstall, you may have the FX lingering in your Project Media. The 'ol lighning bolt thingy may help by deleting any media that has the FX applied but not used in your project. If the project has media that has both the Mike Crash & Yohng FX's applied, of course you will have to manually remove the Mike Crash.

It just installs as an FX. To the best of my knowledge FXs are generic, it's upto us how we use them, they can be applied to the media, or events or even the video bus.
