VP11.683 Crashes at "Initialize GPU-.....

Hi,

I have an i7-3770 system with an GTX-470 graphics card running Win7SP1-x64 with the latest nVidia 301.42 driver installed. VP11 crashes during start up while the "Initialize GPU-accelerated video processing..." message is displayed on the splash screen UI.

gpu_video_x64.txt:

INFO 2012-08-11 12:32:50 *** Start of GPU-accelerated video processing log ***
INFO 2012-08-11 12:32:50 Vegas Pro 11.0
INFO 2012-08-11 12:32:50 Version 11.0 (Build 683) 64-bit
INFO 2012-08-11 12:32:50
INFO 2012-08-11 12:32:50 OpenCL_Initialize

Are there any known issues?

Thanks

Follow up:

I have tried the previous 296.10 and the next 302.82 drivers. Both ended up with the same error, and VP11 will not start. We are stuck with no editor. It just crashes to the desktop every time.

Any ideas on what to try next?

Have you tried holding the Ctrl & Shift keys down when you start Vegas? This forces it to start in a default configuration state. What this means is that all third party Add-Ins, Effects, etc. will not be loaded, and all Preferences will be reset when Vegas starts. If you use this startup option, you may have to reinstall and reset these extras later.

... and GPU assist works well.

Comparing the non-working log to the working log it seems that Vegas is not able to connect to your graphics card for the first "handshakes" at all.

Googling around I found i.e. this "Stress Testing for CUDA-enabled and OpenCL-enabled GPUs" here: http://www.thewindowsclub.com/stress-testing-cuda-opencl-enabled-gpu but I dunno if it will show anything.

I have resolved the issue by setting the compatibility mode option on the short cut to either Windows Vista or Windows 7. I found this on the Sony customer support website.

https://www.custcenter.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5098

It corrected the issue so we are up and working again.
