VP13 - Not off to a good "start" (pun intended)

I downloaded a trial version of VP13 on new Windows 8.1 performance Toshiba laptop and the software will not load. I'm getting the same CFHD.dll error as many others. This is the exact same problem I encountered with trying to install a purchased version of Sony Movie Studio 13 Premium a few months back. I sent several 'tech-support' inquiries to Sony with no response.

This type of 'non-starter' program crash is unacceptable for a major release - It's feels careless and sloppy on Sony's part.

I've been using Magix Video Pro X ( and Movie Edit Pro) for years, but have been willing to give Vegas Pro a try, but can never seems to get a stable release.

Has anyone received a response from Sony on this issue?

here's what i've done, to no avail. i'm on win 8 because my computer won't update to 8.1.

renamed tcss.. and ch...
uninstalled gopro, nb titler 1, nb fx vi
rebooted
run as admin
crashes on sony vst server, but keeps going in the bg when you close the vst server error until it gets to initiating gpu... then it crashes alltogether with no error msg.

i've sent all the required logs and info to sony, waiting to hear back (lol).

and btw: i love the new support policy, where you have to pay to speak to a human to discuss how their broken software cannot run...

Your operating system is hosed to the extent that you can't update it, yet you think Vegas is solely responsible for your crashing issues?

Mine did not either at first. Then I found out you have to update 8 with all the latest updates first and, after you do, it does update to 8.1 (through the Store app). Then you have to get all the latest updates for 8.1. It is a strange and silly process, but it works. Or at least did for me.

been there, done that. had two different ms guys on my computer, they don't know why it won't update. it is NOT my fault.

i have vegas 9, 10, 11 and 12 on this machine, so don't tell me there's not something different with 13.

and yes, vegas13 is responsible for vegas13 crashes that say vegas13 in the error report. all the other versions run. on this machine. some folks here are still on win7.

i've been using this product since vegas audio, and i never had a version that wouldn't run. never. and i'm not the only one who has the issue.
