VP14 MOV files blank screen problem!

pixelsandfrequencies wrote on 9/20/2016, 3:54 AM

Hello,

I Hate this problem.i am editing a music video and the files that i have is .MOV (H.264 codec) everything was running smoothly then suddenly the preview window became black..

some thoughts on the problem.. vegas originally has no problem with the codec and thumbnails are there on the timeline, sometimes the preview flickers black before turning black completely, if i restart vegas i can preview a minute or so then turns black again.. if i work for a longer period on my laptop (on other softwares..) then opened the project files again it turns black faster .. in a few seconds, i tried to move my media to my friends workstation and opened the project files it was black completely i couldnt preview any part of it.

i have tried some suggested solutions:

-downgrading quicktime
-disable re-sampling
-setting max ram preview to 100 or 0
-made sure the video was not muted
-turned off GPU acceleration
-copying all media events to a new project

Please fix this.

So?, can anyone help me?

NickHope wrote on 9/20/2016, 11:35 AM

Have you tried it in Vegas Pro 13 or another previous version?

Yes, same problem.

It should work better if it's converted to MP4 in such a form that Vegas will play it using the compoundplug.dll codec rather than the qt7plug.dll codec. Off the top of my head I'm not sure whether that means rewrapping it to an MP4 wrapper (with the same AVC/AAC streams inside it) or actually transcoding it. There is probably a free app that will do it. Vegas will play some AVC-in-an-mov-wrapper with compoundplug.dll, so I'm not sure why it won't do so with yours. Footage from game and screen recording software causes lots of problems in Vegas.

Yeah but this is not a solution unfortunately.

Magix, please.

No any answer.. up up..

Google "transcode mov to mp4" and "rewrap mov to mp4". Or try different recording software.
