VP16 'Benchmark Project' fails within VP17

Strange experience with the vp16 'benchmark' project within vp17. Origonal SampleProject was opened within VP17 and immediately saved as V17_SampleProject4K.veg. VP17 closed, reopened and the V17_SampleProject4K.veg reloaded as expected.
If the cursor is placed beyond the media end the timeline cursor can be stopped & started via the spacebar or timeline comtrols. Reposition the cursor within the media and VP17 locks up. Closed via task manager.

The origonal .veg file re-saved as .veg.ORG within windows

No such problems with VP16. Any ideas. Machine details in signature

Checked out the old 'Red Car' project with VP17 without problems

Edit : Think I have solved problem. Nvidia now selected in prefs/video. Was Intel UHD by default

File I/O Enable Hardware Decoding for supported formats left checked.

Here almost the same on laptop.
Opening that project in VP17 it freezes immediatly at 23% loading and I waited a while, but after more than half a minute been froozen I clicked in the UI, screen changed and I went to the the taskbar to open the taskmanager and at that moment ....... . . . . . surprise !
I can repeat this over and over and thus could make this screencapture
