VP16 Multicam editing stops functioning after a while...

Qoncussion wrote on 10/15/2018, 4:25 PM

I've been editing a 3-camera seminar that lasted for several hours. So I have several hours X 3 cameras worth of footage wrapped into one Multicam Track in Vegas Pro 16. As the video plays, I select the take I want to display by clicking my mouse on the camera, 1, 2 or 3. After a while of editing my ability to click on any of the takes goes away. I can click all day long, but the same take just stays highlighted with the blue borders. In the screenshot below, I am unable to select camera 2 or 3. I have to shutdown the software and restart in order to be able to continue working. This has happened many times in the past week, while editing this project. I am running an AMD CPU and GPU (see specs in signature below).

Does anyone have any ideas what might be going wrong here?

Thanks.

Does same happen if you switch between the cameras by using the 1, 2, 3 number keys (instead of using mouse-clicks)?

I'll try that the next time it fails. Would your thinking be a video card GPU issue?

In case it only happens when using mouse-clicks but not when using number keys: Yes.

I just rebooted and restarted VP16. The Multicam screen stopped working about three minutes in... And, no - the numbers do not work either.

It just failed again, but this time the number pad continued to work.

Marco, thanks for your help. I may have found the problem. I got a new Logitech trackball this weekend to replace my old Logitech trackball (different model). The drivers appeared to be working fine and even recognized the new trackball along with enabling the programming features. But, I just updated the drivers and so far I've gone for several minutes without a failure. My keyboard is also Logitech which may explain why the numbers failed when the mouse failed. I'll update here again if the problem returns.

Thanks again!

When the problem occurs press ALT+D,D.

This command returns Vegas to the default layout, but resolves this problem in multicam editing.

It works for me, I'm not sure it will work for you.

Thanks - I'll give that a try. I have always saved my 3-monitor layouts in Vegas. So I'll try Alt+D,D, followed by Alt+D,1 to get back to my layout. Hopefully that fixes it.
