VP16 - Which comes first?

Qoncussion wrote on 12/9/2018, 7:24 PM

I am color grading a video that contains several clips that have all been sped up. I am also applying Flicker Free to all clips.

My color grading was done "per clip". So I clicked the fx button on each clip and graded that clip. Now, I'd like to apply Flicker Free to the entire timeline, BUT, Flicker Free should be the first effect used on a track for it to work properly. So then, which comes first? Does Vegas apply the track fx prior to the individual clip fx? Or the other way around?

Thanks.

All you have to do is drop the flicker free FX onto the Header track. That will apply to any add on clips on the event. Its don't matter you do it last or first.

Thanks for the advice. I have read the instructions for Flicker Free, and in particular a section that talks about how to get the most out of it. They recommend that it always be the first effect in a chain. I have run into situations using it where problems were fixed by moving it to the first position in the effects chain. In this case, I want to know what Vegas 16 processes first, the track fx or the clip fx...?

Media FX > Event FX > Track FX > Project FX

Media FX > Event FX > Track FX > Project FX

Thanks, Nick. So if I understand what you posted, the fx on a single clip will process before the track fx... Correct?

And... I may have learned something here... You had project fx last. Where would one go to apply fx to the entire project?

Yes, FX on a single clip (= "event FX") processes before track FX.

Project FX you can access by clicking the "fx" icon above the video preview window. The correct name is actually "Video Output FX". You can also access it via View menu > Video Bus Track and apply it like you would a track FX.
