tripleflip18 wrote on 11/15/2019, 11:43 AM

Hi, just want to report and maybe get some help with the 2 problems of 4k60p HEVC files from Iphones.

1. Its adding 3 blank black frames at the end of each clip

2. Realtime playback is 2-3fps where VP16 im getting full steady 60fps, no matter i chance So4 or not.....

If you guys have solution to any of these please post below.

I have had similar issues with iPhone HEVC files in Vegas 16 and 17

When trying to transcode/export this type of file out of Vegas 17 (most recent build) I sometimes get a few random black frames

I found that I could avoid the issue by not using the GPU (RTX 2080ti card) for the export and use the MainConcept export instead

In this particular case I was using the most recent version of Neat Video 5 on this video clip when exporting but I have seen black frames without it as well.

Sometimes restarting Vegas will resolve the issue

tripleflip18 wrote on 11/15/2019, 9:47 PM

for me its every single file in a timeline, last 3 frames are black, premiere pro, no black frames, transcoding it in handbrake no black frames, only VP 16/17.

Yep thats it, but the problem is not even just a realtime preview, it renders it the same way with black frames, have you tried regular non studio drivers?

I mentioned that the black frames show up in the render

I have not pulled out the studio driver yet

I was told that the Studio Driver was optimized for Adobe and Vegas

I had noticed the black frames with HEVC in After Effects as well and it seems to be a known issue

https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/iphone-xs-footage-doesn-t-play-back-properly-in-premiere-pro-cc-2019/td-p/10296994

Do you happen to have this extension installed

https://www.semw-software.com/en/extensions/

I wonder if it could be a conflict between the extension and the recent Vegas build??

Here no problem on desktop from signature, with the same property settings.

Look how it plays

But I can't render in HEVC FHD 30fps, what (customized) rendertemplate did you use to render? Screenshot?

Your Dynamic RAM is zero mine is set to 350MB so maybe that is why it plays okay for you??

As I said previously it plays okay for a bit after re-starting Vegas but the random black frames do pop again so maybe if you play it a few times the black frames may show up on your system

You asked

"But I can't render in HEVC FHD 30fps, what (customized) rendertemplate did you use to render? Screenshot?"

In regards to the iphone footage the phone shoots at 30FPS no 29.97 FPS

When I rendered out I just went with 29.97

Don't think so, because I don't use that option in Tools (Shift+B)

No, not seen also not the first play or the 10th play

When I rendered out I just went with 29.97

I now did that also and this is the result of therender and playing the rendered file.

On my system I have this Studio Driver

Yess..... and ???
There are a lot more settings important than only which GPU and the driverversion also when they have their infuence and goal. But when other settings, I don't know which you use, not are set right, the GPU and driver cannot give their best.
That are Windows- and Vegas settings.
