VP17 on Win 11 Install Freezes (possibly corrupt)

ThreeTima wrote on 11/8/2021, 2:21 PM

- Vegas Pro 17 on Windows 11
- Install file hangs at "E5F2D127_A6B5_4BEF_806F_5AFAE77AB410" (whatever that means? - roughly 80-90% done)
- I tried to restart the process... but since it already downloaded the files, it re-uses the already downloaded (possibly corrupt) install file.
- I know a thing or two about troubleshooting...
   * No, I didn't uninstall, as it is impossible... it didn't install in the first place
   * There is no option to re-download (it just "verifies" and uses the file already downloaded - I would delete if I knew where so it could re-download)
   * There is no ability to direct download to custom folder

Please help

Look first in you Downloads folder. Delete and retry.

If you’re unaware of the Downloads folder, there’s probably a lot of files in there.

You are installing an old Vegas version on a brand new "Windows" operating system. Not something i usually recommend.....That is quite possibly why there is an issue.

Thanks everyone...

I did figure it out, for some reason VP does not like being installed on a separate drive (physically installed Within, yet separate from my system Drive, used for installing my program files).

I tried in probably 5 or 6 different times to install it on my program Drive, but it didn't work. When I went to install it on the system Drive(to the default location), it installed with no problems.

I have brought this up to Magix/Sony Vegas in hopes that either they figure out why is that is the case or come up with a fix so I can install it where I want to and not where it's defaulted to....

I probably will upgrade to 19, but for the time being I don't have the ability to update.

Thanks everyone.

I doubt if they will come up with a "fix" for VP17 to install it on a different drive than the system C: drive. It's 2 years old. And there is no "Sony" anything. Hasn't been for almost 5 years now.

If you want an easy life it is advisable to install programs into c:/programs. With all yours programs in their default locations it is easy to take regular images of your working system. Clearly your media goes onto a separate internal drive were possible. Keep it simple as the program designers intended. Good luck.

Using old vista/xp programs it is sometimes possible to install in compatibility mode. I am not planning to move to w11 so may well call it a day with vp19 for a year or two.
