VP17 - synch audio to align events sloooooo

Hi,

I just purchased and installed VP17 tonight. One of the features that sold me on it is integrated feature to synch video clips on different tracks using the audio track. This effectively is what we use PluralEyes for.

My hope was that:

a) this would be *significantly* faster because it could leverage the audio peaks already built by Vegas, rather than having to build intermediate audio files to synch with (like PluralEyes seems to do using ffmpeg in the background)

b) this would work more effectively; PluralEyes lately seems to get *close* for us, but really is off by a bit, especially having trouble aligning GoPro clips where the audio drops between multi-segmented video files (which were split due to file size limits)

My finding so far is that it does NOT re-use the audio peaks, and in fact seems quite a bit slower than PluralEyes.

Can anyone shed more info on this? A bit disappointed that my first test seems so lackluster in result.

The best way to get fast results is to select the events you wish to synchronize, then select a region on the timeline to do the analysis. If no region is selected, analysis will occur on the whole event. You can achieve very good results when just analyzing the relevant parts of the events.

Well, the workflow is -- we just shot a live show. We have 7 cameras rolling, all with audio. We drop each camera onto the timeline on different tracks and want them aligned by audio.

So really -- it *is* all events. Or are you suggesting we need to manually get the clips close to being aligned then select regions to limit what they are looking at for the auto-alignment process? It does sound sub-ideal ...
