Nothing here, it works fine on my Zenbook Pro Duo laptop (I9 9980hk, RTX 2060) or my AMD desktop (ryzen 7 1800x, radeon VII). Did you install the AI deep learning models?

Systems:

Desktop

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x 8 core 16 thread at stock speed

64GB 3000mhz DDR4

Geforce RTX 3090

Windows 10

Laptop:

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 32GB (9980HK CPU, RTX 2060 GPU, dual 4K touch screens, main one OLED HDR)

Yes. They were part of the VP18 installation and allowed to be installed.

fr0sty wrote on 8/3/2020, 6:10 AM

Just out of curiosity, have you rebooted since you installed? I've noticed some issues get solved by doing that.

Yes, I restarted.

Looking up other users that have had issues with Kernelbase.dll errors, some said their issues were fixed with a windows re-install, there's an article on microsoft's site that suggests re-installing the software as well.... looks like this could possible be an issue within windows.

 https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-17-crashes-as-soon-as-i-press-render-as--117695/#ca734077

Though in this thread, the error was related to what Derek called "some new registration stuff" in a particular build of V17, the issue was fixed in a subsequent build.

Hopefully @VEGASDerek or someone can chime in with some help on that, since there's so many different things this could be, I'm stumped.

@pierre-k @fr0sty This exception comes up in combination with the "VideoFX" plugin window. The plugin window is doing a real time image processing of the selected FX for each preset. Style transfer is a very "heavy" plugin to run 17 times at once (for some machines). We will fix this issue and will improve the speed for loading the presets in the next update.

I have never seen that the plugin will not appear. The models are installed?

pierre-k wrote on 8/3/2020, 7:31 AM

Everything that the Vegas installer allowed, including models, is installed. These AI plugins do not load into the event.

My PC:

Intel Xeon 3.40Ghz

RAM 16

win 10 ver. 1903

GTX970

I'll try to update Windows again.

You're on the bottom end of the minimum specs required to run VEGAS 18. It looks like, according to what Pascal said, that your system is choking on loading the thumbnails that show what the effect preset does, because it's having to run that plugin 17 different times at once to generate the previews. It may not be a window issue, after all. You may have to wait until they can release that update that optimizes the preview thumbnail generation process to use those features on your system.

That said, loading the effect from the event fx chooser window should work, so if we can figure out what is happening there, it may work as a workaround until the update drops.

Guys, the A.I Colorization tool is mind numbingly good.

I'm waiting for my feet to get tired of walking back and fourth so I can test it further.

That being said, there's a notable bug. If use it on more then one clip, I'll get a message saying that I haven't installed the necessary components. A restart of the software fixes it.

But Maaaaaaaaaaaan - its so good, I can actually forgive this. Its picking up skies, water surfaces, distant backgrounds! Its incredible.

I updated Windows to the current version. Without success.

My Xeon doesn't have an internal GPU.

Is that why my AI plugins don't work?

In the description you write ........
With hardware acceleration from Intel OpenVINO technology.
Does this mean that, for example, these plugins do not work for AMD processors?

At the moment there is no GPU acceleration. Intel and the VEGAS team is working together to support Intel GPU devices in the near future. What does this means for AMD? Nothing... Intel OpenVino works also for AMD CPU but without CPU hardware acceleration. I believe that your Xeon, i7 or i9 will have a boost.

I found this issue in our crash reporting system and will have a look at this as soon as possible. We will try to fix this in the next update. Thanks for your feedback and we hope you will have fun with VEGAS 18.

I have news for you .....

1. If I reset Vegas and it loads for the first time, when I open the AI plugins it reports that the AI Bundle is not installed. Although it is.
After the second and next opening of Vegas, the AI plugin will no longer load.

2. If I hide the OFX folder in Program Files / common files / plugins and reset Vegas, both plugins will open and work fully the first time I run it. However, when opened again, they are again inoperable.

Do you understand it? I don't.

@pierre-k
Try following:
Go to your Magix account and download from there only the Deep Learning Models and install those without uninstalling some and after restart of Windows try again. It helped me.
