VP19 B341: Import of Mocha data into Motion Tracking panel: Support?

Grazie wrote on 8/31/2021, 1:50 AM

Yes, I've seen @ScrapyardFilms excellent YT video. However, and if I've missed it I apologise, but what is missing is what follows.

OK, I've got as far as importing the MP DATA Tracking from the OFX into VP19. However, I'm now being presented with the following Menus, Functions, and sideways Instructions. BORIS cannot assist me with understanding these because these were developed by VegasSoftware, so, naturally, I'm coming here, as these Screens have been created and have become part of the VP19 environment by VegasSoftware:

I'm fumbling and bumbling through these menus and controls, making a dog's breakfast of it - not a new experience for me!😬 - in attempting to make Creative use of these Menus and Functions.

@VEGASDerek - Please throw me a Rope, I'm drowning!!

@Grazie The motion tracking panel is a simple alternative to Mocha Pro. In both tools you create motion tracking data from a region you want to track. The only difference in VEGAS Motion Tracking is the ability to copy those information to a VEGAS item (text, PiP ect.).

1. In this step you imported the motion data from Mocha Pro. Please ignore all tracking steps (Mode, Precision)

2. Go direct to the export button or the drop-down box and copy the information to the text... like this

... or this.

You are done. What are you doing here? Why you restart the tracking in VEGAS?

Please try step by step of this video.

Hi @Grazie, unfortunately the help is not ready yet. You want to pin a text at a certain piece within the frames with the help of MochaPro? Your screenshots looks quite right. So, you have to

  • track with Mocha
  • (you maybe have to adjust the tracking area as seen in ScrapyardFilms YT video (the option is named 'show surface'))
  • export data as 'Silhouette Pin'
  • back in Vegas, import data via mask context menu
    • depending on your setting in Mocha the right mode is chosen (in your case 'Perspective')
  • place your text event in a track above of the tracked one
  • drag the transfer icon and drop it on the text event (and choose 'Add PiP FX' for adding the PiP FX that matches the tracking area) or use the drop-down menu to do the same
  • now, the geometry of the text event should follow the mask of the tracked event
    • you could also follow ScrapyardFilms instruction to lock aspect ratio if you want to

Does it answer your question?

@VEGASPascal - Yes, I would have previously agreed with you, but for ALL those extra Menus and Regions and so on within VP. What are all those Region Options for?

1. In this step you imported the motion data from Mocha Pro. Please ignore all tracking steps (Mode, Precision)

@VEGASPascal - Well, how was I to know? But, thank you for informing me.

2. Go direct to the export button or the drop-down box and copy the information to the text... like this

@VEGASPascal - Like what?

... or this.

You are done. What are you doing here? Why you restart the tracking in VEGAS?

@VEGASPascal - Your assumption is that I know what I'm doing - wrong!

Why you restart the tracking in VEGAS?

@VEGASPascal - Again, I don't know what I'm doing. I'm allowed to do that.

Please try step by step of this video.

@VEGASPascal - And in that YT does it tell me to ignore the items you say? Does it?

Hi @Grazie, unfortunately the help is not ready yet. You want to pin a text at a certain piece within the frames with the help of MochaPro?

@Vegas_Sebastian - I've kinda been guessing this too! - I agree with my wishes of what I want to do Text Pinning. So "other" wishes we might have would require "other" controls. As part of the Help File it would be good to see examples relating to the various components/controls - yes?

@Vegas_Sebastian - Now, YOUR reply is Golden! You've not made any assumptions about my Skillset, this I like. For example, you've recognised what I'm trying to achieve; you've then indicated I should be using "Silhouette Pin", why, I don't know, but you've directed me; "import data via mask context menu", again, another very helpful direction, but doesn't tell why?; another helpful direction is that in my to use 'in your case 'Perspective' ' - how would I have known to use it?

@Vegas_Sebastian - I can't wait for the Help File clearly delineating all the options. Might I make this observation: When you look at that YT, you KNOW what @ScrapyardFilms was doing, and what he what next he'd be doing. You're certainly not coming to nor from my perspective of NOT knowing what would be coming, nor the reasons and rationale of picking certain controls.

@VEGASPascal & @Vegas_Sebastian - Thanks for your time instructing me on this. The Help File with lots of Examples - please!

@Vegas_Sebastian @VEGASPascal

You did a good job creating this option to import data from Mocha Pro. It's a very useful option for those who work a lot with motion tracking and want to combine the efficiency of Mocha with the ease of editing in Vegas Pro.

Thank you so much for creating this option and please keep improving this amazing tool that you guys created.
