VP20 B403 Render CPU usage

Reyfox wrote on 5/25/2023, 11:19 AM

I was looking at Task Manager and Vegas dialog box for rendering and was wondering why the CPU usage in the dialog box is way less that what is being shown in Task Manager, while rendering a project.

@Reyfox Hi, why does yours say (10)? , mine shows (5)

I tried with a few options, Taskmanager always showed a bit more, 10-20% more

Magix AVC was 15-20% CPU

ProRes 40-ish% CPU

Voukoder 70-ish%

Magix AVC

Have you got fx's added?

Hey @Gid. I'm thinking it's related to Vegas Hub? Rendering in Magix AVC/AAC MP4 UHD 2160P 50fps (AMD VCE)

Gid wrote on 5/25/2023, 12:30 PM

@Reyfox I don't have AMD VCE just NVENC

pretty much the same as before, Taskmanager shows 20%-ish, Vegas went from 12%-22%,

I signed into the Hub but still no extra Processes, but when I opened the Vegas Hub window they all appeared. & went away as soon as i closed it.

PS, rendering with the Hub open made no difference

@Gid with the Hub open, you have 1 less process, WebView2; VEGAS Hub.

Gid wrote on 5/25/2023, 1:02 PM

@Reyfox Hmm, I had V Post 19 but only got Vegas Edit 20 this time, never use it 🤷‍♂️

@Gid this is VP20 Edit. Considering Post in the next upgrade if there are some improvements over my "old" HFP 2021.3, a couple of years old.

Sad how Artlist killed FXHome... I would have loved for them to be brought into the Vegas fold... but not knowing how much money they were bought for.

Gid wrote on 5/25/2023, 1:34 PM

@Reyfox That's the same Hitfilm I've got, In the past I had problems with Vegas Effects transferring the effect back to Vegas Pro, so I never used it & that's why I only got Edit this time, I just tried Hitfilm & Effects from VP20, both crashed when BCC Looks was added, 😂😂 Doesn't bother me, I'll just carry on not using them apart from Hitfilm that handles my CAD .obj 3D files well, VE does too, I think, I always open Hitfilm for them but HitFilm going subscription was why I tried out V Post. 👍

I don't know for sure as this is part of the code I have not had much dealing with, but if I were to guess, I think the CPU usage in the render progress dialog is probably only taking into account the CPU processing that the rendering of the frame is using but not the decode side of it. Probably need to check with the our File I/O guy about that.

Reyfox wrote on 5/25/2023, 3:03 PM

@VEGASDerek, thanks for your input! Looking forward to getting an understanding as for the huge discrepancy between the two.

Reyfox wrote on 5/25/2023, 3:06 PM

@Gid creating "whatever" in HFP, dragging the HFP file onto the timeline, it has worked for me. If I can streamline the workflow, get rid of the "editing" part of HF, I'd like that. So I am waiting to see what the next iteration of Post will be.

I'm guessing HF Mocha doesn't come with it....
