VP22 Screen Capture not recording audio...just video

Gregory-Hastings wrote on 3/7/2025, 8:19 PM

I've just upgraded to VP22, and have been trying to do a screen capture. It's clunky, but I got t to work...sort of. It captures the video fine, but no audio. And yes, I have selected the Audio Source "Speakers", and see the audio on the bar graphs during a test run. But no audio is captured.
Thanks,
Greg

The "capture" program has not been updated in quite some time and never worked completely correctly. My understanding is that it's basically a deprecated app. You might try using something else to capture the screen - like OBS? Search the forum here for the best capture settings in OBS.

Thanks. I really don't have a lot of need for that function and do have other software that can do that.

I was just playing around with it and was wondering if I'm not configuring it properly or have some deeper level problem.

I'm having problems with other media playing software not playing audio correctly with any video files. But Windows Media Player is working fine, and I've been able to confirm that Vegas capture is not actually capturing the audio.

So, it's sort of a process to see if there is 1 underlying problem, or if the two issues are just coincidental. Both Vegas and the other software are new, latest version upgrades.

I was looking for the same thing now .

I know there's other solutions but they might as well completely remove it , if it is so.

I even checked, looking for the ''hidden prefs menu'' but it seems there's no hidden menu anymore. Unless the way to access it has changed ? (holding Shift /clicking Prefs)

Following this method, I end up with an empty window.

There is still a hidden "Internal" preferences. You get to it one step earlier...hold Shift and click Options. Internal shows up at the bottom of the drop-down menu. I've never used it much, so don't know if there is anything in it that would help this issue.

The other audio related problems I was having with other software was being caused by a conflict with the Creative Sound Blaster card I had installed. I don't need that with my new MB, so I removed it. Now those conflicts with the audio on the other programs are fixed.

But Vegas Screen Capture still does not record the audio. It seems to be a bug.
