VP22 Space bar play issues

Jarrod-Fegley wrote on 1/16/2026, 5:34 PM

I am having an issue with V22. At times, when I press the space bar to play video in the timeline, it works fine. Then at random, when I press the space key, the video doesn't play. I haven't done anything that I know of to cause this. In order to fix it, I have to shut Vegas down and start back up, and ctrl/space bar doesn't work either, annoying. The RATE slider moves briefly to 1.0 but the video does not continuously play. How to fix this? Also, in preferences, "double clicking file loads video into trimmer" but Vegas still loads the file into the timeline. How to fix that?

Sometimes a "Factory reset" helps fix strange behaviour. Instructions here https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-reset-vegas-pro-to-default-settings--104646/

PS. I've changed your thread title to something more meaningful and helpful for anyone searching the forum with a similar problem. Hope that's okay with you.

Same here with Vegas Pro 22 (b250). Media loads into the Trimmer window from the Project Media window but not from the Explorer window. There doesn't seem to be any other preference option re this in Internal Preferences so I'm not sure that there is a fix for VP22 other than using the Project Media window - but then that window needs to be populated with the media either by already being on the timeline or having been imported into Project Media. Alternatively, just drag the media event from the Explorer window into the Trimmer window.

Double-clicking on media from the Explorer window into the Trimmer windows works as expected in VP 21 and in VP23 (b356).

Yep same here. VP22. Double click Project Media files loads into Trimmer. Double click Explorer files loads onto the Timeline.

VEGAS Pro 22 Online Help says it should load into the trimmer

Opening files in the Trimmer by default

You can automatically load files into the Trimmer window by selecting the Double-click on media file loads into Trimmer instead of tracks checkbox on the General tab in the Preferences dialog.  For more information, see General Tab

When this checkbox is selected, no events are created when you double-click a media file in the VEGAS Pro Explorer or Project Media window. Instead, the Trimmer is displayed to allow you to choose the portion of the file you
