VP4 video taken by smartphone causes laggy preview, incorrect audio

Hi,

Problem: when using Vegas pro to edit my first video project which was taken by 2 devices, Nikon D3200 camera and Xiaomi MI Note 10 Pro camera, the issue is that the sound waveforms under the video clips taken by the smartphone will play audio only the first milliseconds of the clip before being completely cutoff when opened in the project, in the same time the videos taken by the D3200 are playing normaly with no skipping on the preview window and with completely fine audio. the original videos of the smartphone play as they should when they are played by Media player and the problem is present only when they are opened via Vegas pro 14. I want to find what is the cause of this problem and if there is any solution for it.

Tried but failed:

1. rendering the video to check the output to Sony AVC/MVC (mp4, m2ts, avc), and no sound was there in the mentioned parts

2. changing preferences audio device type did not work

3. checking mute tools if active but there were none

Software: Sony Vegas Pro 14

System: windows 10 home (64 bit), 16GB RAM,

The free way to get out of this mess is to use Handbrake. Download from here:

https://handbrake.fr/downloads.php

Re-encode your smartphone video to Constant Frame Rate to match your Vegas Project frame rate. Use CRF 18. use 48KHz AAC audio.

The best way to do this is with Happy Otter Scripts / Import Assist. Download trial here:

https://tools4vegas.com/home/

There are scripts on the Vegas Forum to do this if you want to use FFMPEG.
