It's especially handy in conjunction with CTRL+(ALT)+Shift mouse wheel scrolling...

1) Thanks to both of you. I hadn't noticed either of those new features as yet and the addition of a 'razor' is one thing I've been after in Vegas since V4.

2) I just programmed a key that I don't use on my Shuttle Pro 2 to emulate CTL+ALT+Shift. That's made both new features much easier to use. I don't know if Rosebud has a Shuttle Pro, if not I'd suggest he gets one. Quickest way to make this and many other things ever so much easier.

Only thing is I'm now wishing the Shuttle had more buttons.

"Only thing is I'm now wishing the Shuttle had more buttons."

Ahaha! So I'm not the only one wishing for this. Shuttle Pro has 15 buttons and my are all programmed. I have 8 of the top 9 for various Layouts in Vegas. 1 for automatically inserting 1 minute of time on the timeline.

The middle button on the left is for activating my program monitor and I use the middle button on the right for toggling for ignore event grouping.

You see the idea for me is to have the left hand for buttons and the right hand for the mouse so I don't want to remove my right hand from the mouse to hit scroll lock nor do I want my left hand to travel across the entire keyboard to hit scroll lock. Pretty picky huh!

Truth is I could easily program another 15 buttons if they were available.

From megabit : " It's especially handy in conjunction with CTRL+(ALT)+Shift mouse wheel scrolling...”

Does it means you can trim with mouse wheel ?
I can’t get it to work.

From Bob: “I just programmed a key that I don't use on my Shuttle Pro 2 to emulate CTL+ALT+Shift. That's made both new features much easier to use. I don't know if Rosebud has a Shuttle Pro, if not I'd suggest he gets one "

Yes, I have a shuttle Pro (V1).
Have you find a way to simulate Ctrl+Shift+Alt+drag to Trim event ?

Thx

Maybe I'm missing something. How would this "razor" cutting (Ctrl-Alt-Shift-Drag or Click) differ much from just pressing "S" to split the event. The only use I can see is to quickly chop up a longer event on markers (which might be precise) or just by eye where a precise point is not necessary.

How can I use this admittedly nifty new feature to save time?

"S" can split all tracks. The new feature splits only what you click with it. If you've only got one A/V track then nothing in it. If you've got say one A/V track plus one music track it's a godsend.
Well that's how it seems to me, only played with it for a few seconds last night.
