VST Effects on 4K Monitor Causing Audio Skipping

billvo wrote on 12/21/2020, 12:53 PM

I just switched my GPU to a Geforce GTX 1660Ti. The previous GPU was a Radeon RX570 on which the problem described below did not happen. Two monitors: a 4K 3840 x 2160 on Display Port and a 2560 x 1440 on HDMI. I'm using Vegas 18 build 373 to record and edit audio. I'm using the 4K monitor for Vegas.

Since changing the GPU, whenever I access and try to use my Waves VST plugins, the audio skips and cuts out completely. The playback cursor appears to have stopped, but it's actually playing; just not hearing it. If I close the track FX, audio plays fine. Also, this is not a problem with native Vegas plugins; only the Waves.

If I move Vegas to the 2560 x 1440, it's fine. It seems the video generated by the Waves plugins interface causes this issue. I tried making changes in Preferences -> Display. First, I unchecked Use High DPI Scaling; no joy. Then rechecked that and tried Alternate HighDPI Settings. Still no joy.

Thanks for any ideas.

Yeah, was headed to Waves forum but got distracted. Just posted there. I did come up with a workaround. Since you can undock the plugins window, I dragged it from the 4K monitor to the 2K monitor, and it works fine. Go figure.
