Yes, I've been wondering exactly the same thing mangoo! I'll tell you why though - it's because Sony has badly and only half-implented the VST effect specification.
Vegas doesn't report "now time" or tempo to the plugs - this also means that any VSTs which sync to tempo (and most do now, with some not offering you the option to set manually) will not work properly in Vegas. Like you, I was very disappointed not to be able to use 'Glitch' in Vegas.
I've been meaning to post about this for a while because it's been winding me up for quite some time. Grrrr. I mean come on Sony, the one audio 'feature' (really a catch-up) you throw into Vegas 6 is damn half-baked!
Please, plase sort this out and give us full VST effect implentenation in Vegas. In fact something related that recently frustrated me is that Sony made many of it's DirectX 'XFX' plugs (the one's that ship with ACID, SF and Vegas) tempo sync-able. It'd be nice to be able to use this feature, but again Vegas isn't sending tempo information to Direct X plugs either. You'll notice this in DX plugs like PSP Nitro where you have to set the tempo manually.
Now Sony's excuse for all of this is probably that Vegas isn't a sequencer. This is ridiculous. I don't care what they want to call Vegas - Vegas <<does>> have a set-able tempo! It has a metronome. Etc. Being able to automatically sync plugins to the tempo is something one would expect from a multitrack/DAW/NLE/audio sequencer/whatever. Especially when it's an inherent part of the VST specification that Sony claim to have implented. Even the cheapest and freebie mini hosts and sequencers manage to fully implement VST correctly.
Thanks Ben, And totally agree with you, why didnt they do it the right way from the beginning with the vst. It feels like we only have 50% of use of it.
So with other words i cant use this effect, it sucks big time.
"Thanks Ben, And totally agree with you, why didnt they do it the right way from the beginning with the vst. It feels like we only have 50% of use of it"
Well of course it means that 'full VST implementation' can now be a feature of Vegas 7! That should take care of our audio needs for another year..... :(
Okay, I know it's nothing particularly new, but it just struck me *thud*.
ACID has VST support.
Sound Forge 8 has/will have VST support, fer cryin'-out-loud.
If the next release of Vegas doesn't have VST support, I'm gonna bite the bullet and find something else to do with my money...like collect stamps, or mold samples.”
yes it was 9months ago that Veags audio users discussed the lack of VST support. And to think that even now it isn’t even fully implemented. Does anyone remember how the Sony Rep was saying “I think you will all be pleased with the next release of Vegas.”
here’s a question I’d really like answered, can vegas 6 work with “Xphrase VST phase synthesizer”? This is a plug-in I’ve really heard good things about…..Tell me Sony whats the workaround for someone who wants to use one of these plug-ins in their Vegas project??
What about UAD-1 VST plugins? They still do not render in version 6c. Will this ever be fixed?
Will project tempo ever be sent to VST effects like it is supposed to be? it kind of defeats the purpose of having VST capabilities without full implementation.
I have a question actually for pipelineaudio …but anyone on this thread can answer
my question is, for the purposes of mixing, does the plug-in Spaceboy work in Vegas6.
plz let me know, because pipeline, it seems like from your previous posts that you’re having good success mixing in Vegas. (I am not very experienced, but I am studying your thread:)
therefore plz let me know what you think of this plug-in, and how well does it work within Vegas?
