VV3 Newbie needs help on tutorial

Hi There. I have recently started the tuorial supplied by Sonic Foundry for Vegas Video 3 manuel & CD. I have come stuck on the first section ( page 59) trying to take out the "um" on the voiceover track. I have used time selection to find the "Um.....er" on the voiceover but when I press delete to delet it, nothing happens. I have tried everything but nothing seems to work. I sure I'm doing something that would be extremely easy to rectify.

I don't have the tutorial, but the solution is pretty simple:

Just click where the "um" audio is and hit "S". This splits the audio in half.

Then drag the ends of the new split to remove the audio. Cheers, DE
