VV3: PAGE ROLL 2 TRACKS TOGETHER???

WinVideo wrote on 3/21/2003, 10:36 PM
Hi,

Could any expert let me know if its possible to 'PAGE ROLL' (transition) two video tracks together???? I'm doing a photo montage and someone in this newsgroup stated a cool idea of using the duplicate of the video track as background by using some blur effect... but when i do the page roll transition the background is seperate from the main track ... how can i do a page roll for both tracks at the same time??
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

THANKS A LOT IN ADVANCE!!!

Just be sure both tracks align vertically percisely where the events end then overlap the same amount on both tracks and finally drop the same transation on each track. It will appear as one smooth transation. Or should.... I never tried till now, and just quickly putting a couple examples together to test it worked fine.

I can't get a transition to place without overlapping 2 pictures. If you don't want to see the overlap, click the "expand track layers" to see the A/B layers. Maybe that's what you want?

Hi win,

This could be a little tricky...

If you already have used track motion to scale and position the images, you may need to render to a new track and pop the transition on there...

If you used Pan/Crop to scale the images you could drop transitions on the tails of the pictures and it should look like the pic and background are married.

All you need to do is create a "fade in" that is the same length on each clip. Then, drop the transition onto the fade-in area. The two tracks should then both to a page roll at the same time.

Hi,

You dont even need to make the fade-in/out, you can drop transitions onto the head/tail of any event...

...problem is, if the inset-image is scaled using track-motion, the page-transition is scaled too and will not appear to be in the same plane as the background.

Hi,

Could you be more specific please.. where are those functions?? I am using 3.0c not 4.0... here's what I have..

I have two tracks.. first track i used the plug-in pac 3d on the track and made the pictures actually 85% of the size.. the second track is the duplicate of the first track but at 100% size... I used blur on the second track.. so now I see the pics on the first track in small size and clear.. and the second track behaves as a background...

When I do the page transition "PAGE ROLL" at both tracks.. the track 1 and track 2 are not synchronized... the background starts first and then the track 1.. they look like two pages.. I want it to roll like one page... I've read all the above suggestions and does not work :(...

yours of fade in I dont know how to perform it.. could you please be more specific????

THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!!

Hi WV,

Not sure why you are using 3D plugin, you can scale in Vegas...

Here's one method:

Using the loop selector tool, render the end of two tracks to one new track and use that to peel off to show the new image-combo:

Track1 - ______________new rendered element with peel at end_______________next rendered element with peel at end
Track2 - small picture--pppp______________________new small picture--ppppppppp
Track3 - background--bbbbbbb____________________new background--bbbbbbbbbb

Another method:

Track1 - use pan/crop to reduce picture size--pppppppp_drop peel at end
Track2 - background--bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb_drop peel at end

(Method 2 uses peels placed at the same place on both tracks, they will appear as one.)

If you drag a transition from the window up to the event, you can see a "plus sign" by the pointer when it is possible to drop onto the end (or beginning) of an event.

Hi,

Thanks for your help but two things..
1- I figured the rendering into one file but just didn't want to do it as my computer takes LOOOOOOOOONG time to render.. and I dont plan to do just page roll all the time.. and i want to be able to play with background ... if i render i lose the control over it..

2- pan/crop can i do it for the whole track?? i can't seem to find that.. i can do the pan/crop individually with 3.0c.. but how do i do for the whole track at once...

btw: whats witht the ___ ppp and bbb.. length of picture and backgrounds??

Thanks
WV

Hi,
I just found a way... The plugin-pac was the one that didn't work but when I make the pic on track one smaller using vegas pan/crop function it works fine.. as if both pages were one...

Only one problem.. i have 200 pics and I have to do one by one :(... Is there a way I can use pan/crop of the track???? can anyone help me on this????

THANKS SO MUCH EVERYONE

Hi WV,

(yes, the pppp, bbbb were representative of the durations) :-D

You can save the pan/crop setting as a "preset", and select it each time from the drop-down menu in the P/C panel. Then it's only two cicks for each still.
