VV3 RAM preview question

I'm trying to compare the benefits from the new RAM preview with the preview speed I'm currently getting from Premiere 6 and my Pinnacle DV200 card. Pinnacle's "Instant Video" plug-in speeds up certain transitions.

I also use VV 2 (far superior audio control, among other benefits), but VV 2 won't play on an external monitor because it won't recognize my Pinnacle DV200 card.

I'd be willing to get another supported card and upgrade to VV 3 if the RAM preview is faster than the Premiere 6/DV200 combination.

Can anybody comment on this? How does the RAM preview work in practice? How fast is it? Should I dump the DV200 and get a card SF supports? I have 512 MBs, Win98SE (soon to be XP), PII 933 Mhz.
