VV4 Messed Up VV3 LE Project Files

I just finished installing VV4+DVD. I was careful to leave the existing VV3 LE installation, that came with my ADVC-1394, intact.

When i tried to open a VV3 .veg file with VV4, it complained that "The file is an unsupported format."

I then tried to start VV3 LE and opened the same project file, it now also complained the same problem.

I've been working on this project with VV3 LE just fine up until started installing VV4+DVD.

Help?! Hints?!

Thanks.

Do you have system restore so you can go back to a point before you installed V4. It's possible that the new installation affected some common file used by both programs. I didn't have this problem from V3 full version to V4.

That's what i ended up having to do. I'm all set now. Just was wondering if others have run into this problem. Thanks.

On a semi-sideways-related note, please be aware that if you open a .veg file in Vegas 4 AND save it, it will no longer open in Vegas 3. Please make backups of your V3 .veg files before using them in V4.

Could it be that your VV3 LE project incorporates media that is read by the QuickTime plugin in Vegas? .mov, .gif, .tif, are some of the file formats it can read.

A new version of the QuickTime plugin shipped with Vegas 4. This plugin requires QuickTime version 5.0.2 or later. If you have an older version of QuickTime installed, you may want to update it and try again to open your VV3 projects.
