Please don't take this the wrong way. It took me a while to document it. I LOVE VV4 and this is the ONLY irritation in the program to me. I hope someone at Sonic Foundry takes note of this one ;-)
Here is the directory structure of the images.
They are 800x533 in size, and stored as jpegs...
In total there is just over 1000 photos.

I've created 6 "media bins" in the media pool.
If I now go and grab
50 from one of the above directories and put those in bin 1
move 1 or 10 into the timeline
25 from another... and put that in bin 3
move 1 or 10 into the timeline
65 from another... and put that in bin 3
move 1 or 10 into the timeline
45 from another... and put that in bin 3
move 1 or 10 into the timeline
Somewhere in here, Vegas starts going all crazy.
It will start showing completely wrong thumbnails, which point to completely different files than I had originally dragged in.
Very soon around this time, VV4 crashes.
This happens on my...
dual celery 550Mhz 512mbytes of RAM
single athlon 1Ghz 512mbytes of RAM
P.S. Not having "thumbnails" represent media in the Media Bins is assinine. Try loading 24 3600x2400 images into a bin. How long does that take to refresh... and it needs to refresh all of them, everytime you reopen this bin.
P.S.S. The thing that really irks me when all the above will get working... is how you can't drag a list of images from outside of VV4 and drop it directly onto a sub media bin. The images always end up in the current open window. This is very counter intuitive.
