Waiting for the timeline to draw

When I load up a two-hour DV timeline with seven video tracks and lots of edits it takes a long minute for Vegas to finish drawing the timeline. It looks like it's populating all the clips in the timeline with accurate representations of the video in that clip.

I know patience is a virtue, but is there any way to speed that up?

I guess you could turn off the waveforms and thumbnails. Also, if you're looking at the full timeline, maybe zoom in so it's only redrawing a smaller fraction of the timeline. Plus you can still do things while the screen redraws.
