Wave Hammer not showing on 64-bit Vegas

rs170a wrote on 4/24/2012, 2:00 PM
I just got one of new computers (Windows 7 - 64-bit) up and running and loaded up a project that was partially done on my XP machine.
I made extensive use of Wave Hammer (the 5.1 version is there but not the other one) in the project but it does not show up as a plug-in on the new machine when I open it in Vegas 64-bit.
32-bit is fine so I assume there's an installation order problem somewhere.
I installed 64-bit Pro 10 followed by DVDA 5.2 followed by Sound Forge 10 followed by 32-bit Pro 10.
Should I have done something different or am I up the proverbial creek?
Thanks.

Mike

I can repro Mike, in 64bit VP10e and VP11.

I have WH non surround in SF10. So, SONY and Vegas "knows" of its existence. Maybe there isn't a 64bit version, only surround?

Inconsistency . . . .

Grazie (and anyone else who's curious), here's what SCS support had to say about this issue.

Wave Hammer is a 32-bit plug-in and will require a 32-bit host.
You can always render your audio with Wave Hammer applied, and re-import the rendered file into your 64-bit build of Vegas.
Wave Hammer Surround is available for use in the 64-bit versions of Vegas Pro.

Wavehammer doesn't work in Vegas(64). You can however run Vegas(32) , load up whatever you need to 'hammer', render that, and reload into 64 bit if you actually need the 64-bit 'boost'.

Yes, it would be preferable for WH to work in Vegas(64) !

geoff

Late edit - oh I see rs170a has already suggested pretty much the same !

. . and that was suggested by SONY.

Me thinks SCS have "Waved" goodbye to this 32-bit Plug for 64-bit support, and brought the "Hammer" down? - Is there a "cold-chill" of reality running down the spines of 32-bit users here?

Pity . . . . .

"Is there a "cold-chill" of reality running down the spines of 32-bit users here?"

Not really. More like a cold chill running down the spine of a long time user of Wave Hammer. SCS say they've ported the Surround version, I don't do Surround and probably never will so now what?

Oh hang on V9.0e is working just fine.....had me worried for a minute.

I'm talking about 32- and 64-bit Vegas.

"I'm talking about 32- and 64-bit Vegas."

I kind of got that but then your comment doesn't make any sense to me.
Would't it be the 64bit users feeling the cold chill of reality i.e. that not everything that is available in the 32bit version is going to be ported to 64bit?

Just think about it a bit longer, Bob.

I've twisted that Babelonian fish around and around in my ear every which way and all I've got is an ear ache :(

What I did realise though is I think we've all got it wrong.
WaveHammer never shipped with Vegas.
The Surround version did and does, the stereo version turns up in Vegas only by virtue of me and I guess others, having also installed Sound Forge.

Problem is SF as far as I know never has and probably never will be ported to a 64 bit version. That in turn raises another issue I think, SF is at EOL as an external audio editor for Vegas.

This is not an issue, just use use the Surround version of WaveHammer - it works just fine on stereo tracks..

Thanks Gene. I'm ashamed to say that using the Surround version never occurred to me.

Use only the first two channels of Wave Hammer Surround. I do this on all of my productions. There is no longer any need for the stereo version of Wave Hammer since the Surround version supports both Stereo and Surround.
