wave hammer problem - weird noise

fuddam wrote on 5/30/2008, 8:38 AM
working on some DV footage, shot on multiple PD150's

If I add wave hammer to the audio fx, the audio proceeds to have intermittent beeps. Almost like musical notes, about 2-5 seconds apart, i.e. they are not the same noise every time.

have used wave hammer before without issues. Only adjusting the volume maximizer not compressor settings.

have tried all permutations that come to mind, in terms of footage, fx etc. Not been able to find any prior posts on the issue

Those beeps are because WaveHammer is in demo mode. If you have used it before, it has since forgotten that it is registered. The first thing I would try is the migration tools. In Windows go to:

Start | All Programs | Sony | Utilities | Migration Tools | Register Sony DirectX Audio Plug-Ins

If that doesn't work try:

Start | All Programs | Sony | Utilities | Migration Tools | Copy Sony Plug-In Licenses from Installed Sonic Foundry Plug-Ins

If that doesn't work try re-installing the application that you got WaveHammer with (Sound Forge or Vegas), and if that doesn't work you need to call Sony Tech support. :(

thanks for that.

tried both methods, but neither worked, so will reinstall in the morning.

Weird thing is that Wave Hammer Surround doesn't exhibit the same problem. Strange that one should register but not the other.

am holding thumbs.........

Hi Adam I had this after I installed Sound forge, there are some other topics in this thread about the de-registering of this plug-in

I removed sound forge (not really used) and reinstall V8 and all was well again.

if you have done the same recently then perhaps going back in windows may help.

All plug-ins not registered will beep at intervals.
