Wave Hammer Surround suddenly not loading

AAz wrote on 12/23/2020, 6:29 AM

Using Vegas Pro 16 64-bit

A bunch of audio plugins have disappeared or not longer work.

For example when opening a project that previously used Wave Hammer Surround, I get these messages.

An error occurred while loading the file.

Plug-in: 'Wave Hammer Surround' failed to load.  Please make sure the plug-in is properly installed.

Somehow my audio plugin area has been damaged. How can I restore them? I have not (knowingly) tampered with, or added, or deleted any audio plugs since I installed the program a few years ago.

Did it previously work in VP-16 with the same project... The legacy Wave Hammer is a 32 bit Direct X plug but works with 64 bit VP. .Look in the 'Magix' or 'All' add plug-in folders. Wave Hammer II is a VST, but I am not sure it is included with VP or just Sound Forge

Try resetting VP to the defaults and clear the cache.

It has been working without any issues since I installed Vegas Pro 16 in January 2019, until today, with all projects. The recommended reset/cache clear did not fix the problem.

I suppose I could reinstall the whole program. I have been looking around without success on how to do this without losing all of my current projects.

Resetting or re-installing Vegas Pro should not cause your .veg projects to be deleted. However, it is wise to always have backups of your .veg files stored (and regularly updated) on an external HDD, memory card/stick or cloud storage if available to you.

And its a good idea to backup FX and VST custom presets as well. Depending on the FX or VST, these would be stored on the C drive under the Vegas Pro or Common Files folders under Program Files, or in a Documents folder.

Did you uninstall another SCS or Magix application.. Sound Forge for instance, I recall an instance of some missing plug-ins in VP after a SF version was uninstalled.
