Waveform display

While recording in Vegas 6, the waveform display show up erratically, taking several seconds to show up. In Vegas 4.0 it comes in immediately and smoothly. Is there something to improve the Vegas 6 display?
Pentium 4, 3.7 Ghz, 2.5 g ram, Xp sp3

It does it to me in V8 . Can be 10 seconds before any movement in screen update, at any point during a recording.

Most disconcerting, and the number of times I've stufed up a take because I think it's not going when it is...

This happens to me in V8 as well. I have a MOTU 2408 mkii and a 2408 mk3. The waveform lag only occurs when recording through the mk3 in spite of the fact they both connect to the same PCI card.
