Waves Plug-ins and VV 8c

Just a guess but we were testing VV 8c with a plain old SD project and had quite a few seemingly random crashes.

In the past, this kind of thing was usually attributed to VV incompatibility with some version of Waves Plug-ins.

anyone else having crashes that uses Waves?

yup...we can turn audio plugs off and the crash goes away.....if anyone using Waves --without crashes---could please post what Waves + what VV version you have it would be great.

(the crash is happening in VV7 and VV8 so we think it s more about the Waves version)

Sometime earlier this year we started having "funny" problems with Waves plug-ins, including crashes.

If I recall correctly, our problem turned out to be caused by their USB dongle-thingy. Waves Support said they couldn't help with Dongle problems -- have to go to the Donglemaker to ask for help.
At that point we stopped using Waves products rather than trying to track down the dongle manufacturer and opening that zip-top bag of worms.

(We switched to NewBlue for our FX.)

We've completely discontinued using WAVES as a result of their somewhat recent terrible customer service. We have nearly 15K invested in their plugs, and have four dongles here...all useless. Tech support out of TelAviv is fine, but the problem lies with them taking no responsibility for any of their problems.
Same problems exist in Premiere Pro CS 3/4 as well.

i feel your pain on the waves support. the tuff thing is, you have to update your "support plan" every year or you get no support...it can be anywhere from a few hundred to a couple thousand depending on what plug-ins you have.

of course my support plan just expired so im left with no support and not knowing if its worth paying just to see if version 6 is any different that what I have which is version 5.2

You might want to try the following:

Options>Preferences>Audio Device. Disable Track buffering.
