I too found the installation process extremely confusing and frustrating, not user friendly whatsoever. This might not be the “correct” method, but it has worked for me for several Waves products.

I downloaded V9 each time I installed a new Waves product, going through what seems to be a redundant installation of their software each time. During the install, make sure you scroll down and check Q10 (I think) and it will install on your computer. Otherwise, your software is activated, but not actually downloaded and installed on your computer.

Then when you refresh VST Effects, Q10 will appear, ready for use.

I too had activated software, yet it was nowhere to be found on my computer, so at some point after fumbling around, I decided to download V9 again, made sure I checked Q10, the software finally downloaded and it worked.

If you’re sure you’ve downloaded the software, I suppose you might have bigger issues.

I agree, the 'new' Waves and install/registration procedure is rather confusing. Not sorry to be free of the dongles though.

I got my product numbers and I got my invitation to register my new Waves Plugs and was told to asccess my Waves Account. I've logged in and am looking for the following:-

Click Register Products > Register New Product on the main menu

In ALL that is Sherlock Homes, where is it?

Cannot run the demo: Vegas does not see the license when I scan the vst folder. The Vocal Rider and Q10 plugs are there and the wave account says license has been activated.

Tried to re-install and reactivate the license and no luck.
monoparadox wrote on 12/30/2012, 7:27 PM
Have you tried going to the Wave licensing application installed in the windows start menu in the Waves folder and activated the license there?

Hi Tom,

Yes I did use the licensing application.
monoparadox wrote on 12/30/2012, 8:32 PM
Not sure what to suggest then. I agree the whole process is convoluted, but I did finally achieve licensing using the application after registering on the Waves site.

Installed the demo on another computer with V10 and V11 and still no success.

So if I can't try, I will not buy and that should be it.

Thanks for helping out

To others having problems with activation an/or licensing:

A day after downloading the demo I got an e-mail from Waves that said if I have any problems or questions, I can contact them at: demo@waves.com. If you didn't get the same e-mail, you might try contacting them at that e-mail address.

They responded quickly to my e-mail, although their suggestion didn't work. I am awaiting another reply from them.

Thanks for pointing this out, I guess we probably have a similar problem.
Please let us know if they come up with a fix, time is running out.

Grazie I totally agree, I would go as far as saying the licencing and installation is worse than putting your hand in a bag of doggy dung. However once you have figured it out after installing a couple of Waves programs it comes much easier & quicker, but doing it for the very first time it is a total frustrating way and the online help is not much use as it misses a few (helpful) procedures.

Hope the floods are receding in my old "Pommy" land
Happy NY to all

Ossie-alert, ossie-alert, "Full-on Winging Pom Rant . . . " below . . .

Downunder (ahem), my experience:

1/- On this Thread there are 2 separate links to Waves - think about it for a moment - or, hold that thought.

2/- I sign-up and get an "account" from the 2nd link to Waves here - all is good. While I'm there I ALSO sign up for the Newsletter. Yeah, more to read . . !

3/- I buy the Plugs (this through the 2/- above) I want, and, after several minutes eventually get a WAVES notification; a path to my PAID invoice, which I look at; my Licences numbers and generally it appears everything is working funkidory - GREAT!

4/- Now to download . . . . .

5/- I go to my Account, this setup through 2/- and go on a carousel of wandering like a twit from this and that bundle option to that way of putting together Bundles - I don't want MORE - I want to get to the Plugs I've PAID for, and which you've told me I got and are pleased I have purchased them!!! Well, giv'em to me!

. . . thinks... is there another way in?. . I go back to jr's initial post and click on THAT link. Bosh! Into a completely different looking site. NOT the same as the site I purchased from - ooooo-eerrr..?? What's this Moriarty?

6/- I use my ACCOUNT setup from step 2/- : "Your p/w username not recognised" - eh??

7/- I try again . . no access?

Penny starts to drop . . . 2/- signup ain't the same as needed for 6/- . . . . Complete "Box of Frogs Time"!

O...K.... I'm gonna sign-up on this OTHER site and start over - don't forget, dear reader, I've already successfully purchased from the site from my step 2/-, been told by WAVES I have successfully purchased AND I have the Licence numbers to prove it . . . eh . . ? And ALL through this site from 2/- .

8/- I NOW signup on this OTHER Waves site. And after a few minutes I get in and EVENTUALLY get to the options to enter my NEW Product. It appears and then I have this other, Marathon "In Search of the Ring" experience in now needing to determine just WHICH of the several Download S/W want/need to download - I WANT MY PLUGS I'VE PAID . . please . . . No, I have to download this OTHER s/w . . . . really starting to lose the will to live here . . .

9/- I Vote for the LATEST d/l downloader/installer . . .. and guess what, I am ported somewhere else that has an unnerving resemblance to that 2/- site . . .

The Frogs have now burst through the box, and are now chirping merrily around my keyboard and through my brain . . .

10/- I'm now in FreeFall, waiting for the Mad-Hatter or white rabbit or . . . . OK . . .

I now have the s/w on my PC; Vegas doesn't know ANYTHING about it (I have to agree with Vegas, neither would I! - 'cept I've paid for it); I come here and read the still to come treacherous Install/Activation Gateway I need to confront; the "Golden Bough of Oak" I need to Wave as I pass through and the Portal of Zardoo while whistling Dixie! (I'm joking about the "Dixie" part, it's me being light-hearted! Or is that light-headed?)

Waves? You really really need to get a first-time purchaser-experience sorted out. The comment above about being a daunting experience for a first-timer, for me, doesn't even come close . . .

Look, over the years I've paid for and downloaded and installed tons of stuff. And in my opinion, this has to be the WORST first-time experience ever.

Cheers

Grazie

In my experience, there is nothing Waves makes that is worth the frustration of their paranoid purchasing, activation and licensing schemes. Got burned once and do not wish to be burned again.

In fact, if someone offered me a Waves plug for free, I would turn it down knowing the pain I would have to endure to install it.
Ros wrote on 12/31/2012, 12:49 PM
Grazie, have you managed to run the demo or you just purchased it?

And Dave, I have the same feel, I wasted so much time installing / activating and still can't run the demo.
dalemccl wrote on 12/31/2012, 12:59 PM
Two questions for those who can't get the Vocal Rider demo to work:

1. Does Vegas see the plug-in when it scans VST's but a Waves window pops up that says it is unlicensed?

2.Does Vocal Rider show up in Waves License Center?
Ros wrote on 12/31/2012, 1:05 PM
I do get a successful confirmation from the Waves License Center and Vegas does scan and see the plug-in but I get some message that it is not licensed and need to skip them on scanning the vst folder.
Marc S wrote on 12/31/2012, 1:50 PM
I had the same problem. I was ready to buy the darn thing and could not get it to work even after the license deal said it was good. I sent an e-mail to WAVES, never got a response and moved on.

Grazie,

Thanks a lot. I was just about over the torment and trauma of installing the last Waves product, and then you reminded us in excruciating detail about the miserable process. I broke into a sweat.

At least it is working now, and by the way, Vocal Rider is a great product, but OH, the humanity!

Here is an update, as requested above by RoS.

Waves support replied about an hour ago that I was not seeing a Vocal Rider demo license in Wave Licensing Center because I did not register the demo. They added the demo license for me and I sent it to my PC with Waves Licensing Center. Now Vegas finds the plug-in without popping up the message that says it isn't licensed. I can now use the demo.

I did try the to register it after installing the demo, but the registration screen wanted a serial number. I didn't have a serial number, so I assumed (apparently incorrectly) that demos don't need to be registered.

Waves support responded to each of my inquiries within 24 hours so if anyone having problems getting the demo working contacts them at demo@waves.com, you should get a response.

Unfortunately the sale ends tonight, so it may be too late to contact them and still get the sale price unless you want to buy the plug-in tonight without demo'ing it. I didn't get time to see how *well* it works, but did verify I can use it with Vegas Pro 12 64-bit and Sonar Producer X2 64-bit. So I just bought it from audiodeluxe.com for $58.99. I had never heard of them, so did a quick bit of research and found that users in various music software forums say they are legitimate sellers of Wave products.

wavesuniverse.com, mentioned earlier in this thread by Video Impressions, also has a good reputation in the same forums. The price there is $66.99, I believe.

Thanks so much dalemccl, I just placed my order at audiodeluxe.com as the price just gets better. Will figure out the rest next year!

Happy new year!

OK, VSTs now in VP394.

Testing.

Crash No1 - VP394 called up an IZO Plug Error. Hilarious. . . . .

First impressions? The "VR" is a real boon.
