Wax 2.0b released, with bugfixes

satish wrote on 4/3/2004, 8:57 PM
Wax 2.0b has been released. This version is primarily for bugfixes. All known bugs with the earlier release have been fixed and Wax now works well with Windows98, 2000 and XP. For a full list of changes, please view the change log in the download page.

Visit the Wax page at http://www.debugmode.com/wax/index.php to download the latest version.

Thanks

Perhaps this is a dumb question, but I can't figure out how to import AVS files. Could someone help me?

Hi Satish,
I'd like to know if I need to un-install version 2a before installing v.2b or if I just install b over a..?

And I must have not made something properly: when I try to watch the VEG files, there seems to be a "search" for plugins for awhile and then, Vegas simply closes. An event will appear on the timeline then it will shut down.
I simply can't watch the VEG files...
My setup is as it goes:

drive C: Win 2KSP4
drive P: programs (including Vegas). NOT a partition, a *different* drive! (yes, I like to change letters... "P" drive for Programs...)
In fact, I just keep Win2K and all it's "direct relatives" on drive C (drivers for sound/graphics cards, Direct X, etc...)

I ask just to be sure I do it properly next time with version 2b..
Thanks!

Thanks to Satish I got version 2.0b installed--but when I use it was a plug-in it does absolutely nothing---I have my memory set to 0 in Vegas----Wonder if I am doing something wrong

What exactly do you mean by "it does absolutely noting"? - You opened it from the Event FX list but Wax does not open?

Hello, Satish:

OT: Any word on Wynk? Updates, etc? We use that even more than Wax.

Importing AVS - Remember this is just a preview feature and is not completely stable. If the source is long you will get crashes.

To import an AVS: Insert Video track > insert empty event > appy wax video FX to empty event > load the avs in Wax> drag down to wax track.. In vegas, you will have to stretch your empty event to be the length of the avs video duration.

The part about loading the avs into Wax...
I do "add media files" but then it doesnt show any avs files! The filetype box doesnt list avs as a supported type either.
I made sure im using 2.0b, and I uninstalled the old version prior to installing this one.

Sorry--I should be clearer---When I apply wax to an event on the time line, it opens up fine----but when I go to apply an fx within it I get nothing and often the actual image doesn't move at all. For instance, if I want to use Object and set it to sphere--I dont see anything in the preview window.
taliesin wrote on 4/4/2004, 2:15 PM
The thing about you don't see the actual image move in the Wax preview is: this is the way it works. This is due to the Vegas plugin interface which only gives that one frame to Wax where the Vegas timeline cursor is positioned. If you wanna see your video moving inside Wax you need to use the lower timeline which is bound to the Vegas fx window - not the Wax timeline. The Wax timeline is meant for keyframing and for watching fx-progress only.

If you say you don't see anything in the preview window - do you mean the Wax preview or the Vegas preview. Vegas preview will be black as till you save the Wax project or till you close it.
If you don't see anything in the Wax preview: Is the preview blank or does nothing happen to the video you loaded?
Be sure to apply those fx as a kind of child media to (below) your parent video.

" I do "add media files" but then it doesnt show any avs files!"

Hmm, I just double checked and AVS is available via the add media files dialog. Sounds like you still have the old DLL. Do an uninstall again THEN do a file search in windows explorer for all instances of wax and delete them?
rextilleon wrote on 4/4/2004, 6:09 PM
That hasn't been my experience--on occasion I can see stuff in the Wax preview window and actually see the adjustments I make and play them in the Wax preview window. On other occasions absolutely nothing happens---no image etc.

I just downloaded the Wax2b file from your site and I can't open it. I'm using XP's zipped extracter instead of winzip and its saying the file is corrupt or invalid. I even renamed with a .zip at the end and still the same thing.

What should I do?
corug7 wrote on 4/6/2004, 6:47 AM
This might help. If Wax is in your computer's memory AT ALL (you used it yesterday and didn't turn your computer off), Wax 2.0b will not install correctly. Reset your computer and try again (Thanks to Satish and the DEBUGMODE Forums for helping ME with this bit).
groovedude wrote on 4/6/2004, 9:18 AM
No this is a clean install no other Wax in memory. I can't open the zip file I downloaded from debugmode at all.
RexA wrote on 4/6/2004, 9:28 AM
Well have you tried another download?

I got it and it opens fine as a zip. 20b is 2074KB in the windows display. Gotta think you just had a download problem of some kind.
groovedude wrote on 4/6/2004, 9:31 AM
Well, I've tried to download it twice from Debugmode. Same result.

Would you happen to know another place to download it from?
RexA wrote on 4/6/2004, 9:38 AM
Another place? No.

Does the file size match? I've had problems on big downloads before (usually > 10 MB) and found freeware that can restart a broken download.

Don't know if this applies for you, but if you can't open the zip, gotta think that it is a download issue. Ever had problems with other downloads?

groovedude wrote on 4/6/2004, 9:54 AM
Ok ok, nevermind, looks like third times the charm. Downloaded it again just now and for whatever reason it opened and installed.
