Wax plugins - 3d rendering

Hi Everyone. I am trying to use the freeware Wax2 to create 3d animated text and then I intend to use it as text track in my Vegas project. Do I have to create the video clip outside Vegas and then import it into Vegas or can I use the Wax2 plugins that show up in Vegas after installing Wax2. To put it in another way, is it possible to create 3d animated titles in Vegas? In case of a negative answer could experienced users tell me how they create and insert 3d animated titles in a Vegas project. Thanks in advance.

If this is a Vegas plugin, then you can use it inside your project, no need to go "out" of your project to create it.

Well its description says that it provides plugins to Vegas. These plugins do not create animated 3D text. They provide other simple FX effects or rather this is what I discovered. This point is precisely my question. Has anybody any experience on Wax plugins as to how they work in Vegas and what they can do for Vegas users?

There is a known issue if you're using it with SVMS (as opposed to Vegas/Vegas Pro) because it does not have scripting - you have to select (or deselect?) that option in the settings for Wax. Besides that I've had trouble and instability introduced into SVMS, and that couple with some strange preview issues with Wax plug-ins led me to uninstall Wax for now. However, now that I have Vegas Pro 8, I may try it again and see if it works better than with SVMS.

From what I have seen Wax plugins are not easy to integrate into Vegas. On the other hand if I use Wax entirely outside Vegas to create short uncompressed avi files and then insert them into Vegas projects it works and produces marvellous results. Of course if it were possible to achieve the same result while working in Vegas this would be the ideal solution. This is in fact the reason for starting this thread.

For 3d animated titles, have a look at Blender 3d (hard to believe but it's free).
Version 2.46 was released a couple of days ago with an extraordinary array of new features for a "minor" release (a pity that commercial vendors don't follow suit )
http://www.blender.org/development/release-logs/blender-246/
Here's 2 very creative animated text ideas using 2.46

It's easy to bring into VMS ... lots of output render formats.

There's a bit of a learning curve but once you master the basics, Blender will blow you away.
