Way Cool Tool

I was one of the group who met with Spot and Chris Hurd (from dvinfo.net) in Dallas tonight -- what a great evening. Included in the group were national and local reps from Sony and from Canon; don't worry, it was very friendly and the table was all smiles.

... especially when Spot previewed his new Vegas plug-in, "Ultimate-S" -- based on what I saw tonight I think it will be considered the "must have" plug-in for Vegas users. Lots of tools, totally professional in interface and use -- definitely rocks. For those of you who upgraded to version 5 this is another reason to be happy.

That really looks cool. The more I come to this forum, the more I feel like I hardly know anything. I really have a lot to learn. It looks like it will really speed some things up. I hope the upgrade to Vegas 6 isn't too steep, because I'm going to have to wait until at least then.

PPPPPphhhoooarrghhh!

Someone's been VERY busy! And not a little quiet too!

Very clean layout - Very straight forward and looks to be Grazie-Proof!

Well done - whoever you are!

The site is now live, you can download a demo that has a 14-day trial period.
Glad you liked the tools, JonnyMac.
It was great seeing you at the dinner tonight.

Johnny Roy Rofrano is our programmer on this application, we've been working on this for quite a while, and yes, we've kept it quiet. Johnny did an awesome job with the application, and many thanks to those that were part of the beta team.

Check out the demo of the application and be sure to read the users guide or check out the tutorials.

Grazie, I was thinking of you while I was building this tool. I do a lot of photo montages and I know you do to. I would be really interested in what you think of it. Many of the features have been requested by Vegas forums members. We were just trying to figure out what’s the best way to put them together in one tool that would be task oriented. Optimizing the workflow is what its all about.

The demo is fully functional for 14 days. Spot and I believe that you should be able to kick the tires and see what it can do and not be restricted. There are a lot of great Video and Audio FX presets that Spot built for this tool so be sure to check them out. It was a labor of love for the both of us and we hope that the Vegas community finds it useful.

No Vegas editor should have to work without this tool! There are so many automated tasks (too numerous to name) that help the editor's work get done so much faster. It's been named correctly - Ultimate S. I'm blown away with what you can do with this product. Give it a try. I bet you'll be just as amazed as I am. At this price, it's a steal! Bravo Spot, Johnny Roy, and VASST!

14 days?

I've just re-looked at the interface and it is - well - just plain SEXY! . . i love stuff that Looks Kool too! . .Oh yes I can see it was a Lllloooouve Thang ! AND yes from this distance it really looks like you've been reading hard the feedback on these forums . . . The Photo Montage looks WILD!

. .I just getting Spot's Book here in London . . AND I've gotta earn a living . . AND you want for me to "Kick tyres"? . ..

I've just got something like 1000 stills for a client for the March 05 Project. Does the photo montage synch with music? Can i do stills to the beat AND/OR twist and roll with the beat? Or even make an FX on a still movement? . .. . NURSE medication NOW! ! ! ! ! Grazie's gone melt down . . .. .

. . . . " . . one tool that would be task oriented." oh yes . . . .

Hi Grazie,
You're gonna need a lot of coffee...yes to loading the stills from your hard drive to the timeline (or multiple timelines) to the markers you place (either manually using the tap method or by using the markers module that comes with the tool) complete with adjusting the still length to fit between the markers, matching aspect ratio, adjusting the whole show to match the length of music/audio timeline, apply pan/crop with adjustable movement amount and selectable or random directions of movement, apply transitions (save transition sets), and so much more. And...get this, you hit one button to make all this happen and you can save the format to use it again and again. This is truly getting us to a fully automated slide show. I've loaded it up with over 150 stills on 4 different timelines and ran it through the above. Works fast. This is only one of the 9 modules contained in this tool. It's INCREDIBLE!

I just bought it!

My initial interest was the Montage feature, but whilst I have only had a quick flick through the features (it's 9.20pm her in Aussie land ), it looks really impressive.

I will be up bright and early tomorrow to put it through its paces.

Well done Jonny Roy, Spot and VASST.

Sony and it's partners are continuing to make Vegas 5.0 an impressive video editing solution.

OK!! Since you're so impressed with the package - and you're obviously going to making piles of money with it - I heard a rumour that you're buying a copy of it for everyone on this forum :-O

JohnnyRoy:

Congrats on a fanstastic job. In a former life I used to design UIs for golf course irrigation control software and, to be quite candid, when it comes to UI design I am nothing short of anal-retentive.

You did a fantastic job on the interface and the feature set looks spectacular. It was a lot of fun having Spot demo Ultimate-S at the dinner table in a Dallas restaurant (we had been moved to a corner room so we coud be enthusiastic).

As a programmer, I know that there is little thanks for the "under the hood" work that gets done on these kinds of projects, so I wanted to extend mine. I have some idea how hard you worked at this and I know that Vegas users are going to be thrilled with what your efforts allow them to accomplish.

Jon,

Thank you so much for the kind words. It’s just like anything else though. If you produce a video and it looks like it was hard to make, you did a terrible job. It’s only when no one notices the editing that you did good job, but that’s the hardest thing to do. My programming background is mostly in server-side development (using Java/J2EE) so it was a lot of fun developing a desktop application for once.

I have the advantage of being an experienced Vegas user myself, so I was building it for me as much as for all of you. Not many programmers get to use their own creations. Perhaps that helps make the design more intuitive.

I have worked with many usability groups over the years and they have all been very hard to please. I take your approval as a big compliment coming from someone in that field. Thank You.

Just got the e-mail splash from VASST on Ultimate S. Excellent advertisement and includes the link to download the "fully functional" tool for a free 14 day trial. Nice job VASST!

So is this a V5 only plug in, or will it work with my "ancient" V4?

Frenchy,
I think it works with the scripting capability found in Vegas 5.0b. Saw that on the DMN forum.
