Ways to make Vegas 4 shine on Shuttle XPCs

Hi the rhino, and other Shuttle users. Any suggestions on most effective use of Shuttle XPCs as hub for Vegas-based field production/post/graphics/render/encoding?

I've gotten as far as getting a couple SB51Gs running V4+DVDA networked together (one 3.06g the other 2.4g), a wireless keyboard/mouse (but not one small enough to fit into front of shuttle bag yet), and am looking into the best buy for a portable field monitor, preferably able to act as camera NTSC monitor AND edit monitor. see

What systems and field/desktop approach(es) have you landed with your Shuttles-- and how is it going? Personally, I LOVE my Shuttles, but still feel I'm not fully using them for all they oughta be able to do. What are all the ways you are using your Shuttles?

Also, did you hear about the new (least to me) Shuttle backpack? http://www.shuttle.com/new/product/barebone/specs_a.asp?A_id=22

thanks,

Hi,
I am currently shopping for a new pc or two and love the look and footprint of the Shuttle XPC. My questions is what have you included in you XPC, how much did it cost, and do you have any suggestions on where to get the best price on one?

Oh one other question...did you add the hardware yourself, or have someone do it for you?

Hope these questions don't annoy you, I am really interested in the XPC, but am finding it hard to find first hand accounts on how well they work.

Thanks,

My Shuttle never leaves my desktop. But it does fit under the left side of my LCD screen which works for me. :-0

Pros of Shuttle PC's: build your own. Get exactly what you want (my specs: [built 8 months ago] 2.4 P4, 512 DDR, 2 - 120GB WD, Radeon 7500 w/ DVI/TV out - my DVD burner is external). Small footprint. Relatively quiet. Looks factor "THAT'S your PC?!?"

Cons: (as with all build your own systems), NO tech support - other than on-line forums. (You can have one built by many companies for you and then you will have tech support.) Very, very, very sensitive on the type of memory you use. Need really really high end memory with low CL (2). Had a lot of headaches and eventually had to go from 333mhz to 266mhz on memory clock speed to get a stable ride.
