I guess that is a no.. This would be a really great feature to add in the Future.. Hopefully Sony is in the sahdows...

What you're referring to is the data portion of a hybrid DVD and would require a multimedia application. DVD Architect is for DVD-Video, not for DVD-Data.

You can't currently do it in DVD-A2. You can't in most apps on the PC in this price range anyway. DVD StudioPro 2 and 3 offers web link access, but it's pretty restrictive. Sonic will be releasing eDVD later this summer that will work with (I believe) completed projects/folders from other authoring apps to allow for adding this functionality. It will be a bit pricey however, but the technology it is based on will be the most reliable out there and have the best chance of actually working on the widest number of PC's.

I know Hollywood is excited about being able to get more info on your
disc habbits. eDVD could open the back door for tracking where discs are
(remember the DIVX plan with phone jacks on the DVD player so you pay
a smaller amount for a disk and after so many plays you could pay for more viewings)
and every technology that could make existing DVDs obsolete (HighDef)
would help them to regain copy control.

I would accept a .HTML file in my disc's root to make it easier to jump
to a studio's website but anything else.... sorry.

eDVD will allow for reliable web linking from your dvd, and also launch programs to pics (like an extra folder of the original jpegs) or pdf files, and will be cross platform (Mac and PC) compatible (unlike DVD Studio Pro which uses DVD Access and has better platform penetration on Mac's and not PC's). It's founded on Interactual's technology, which Sonic bought out. Hollywood doesn't need to buy 'eDVD'--they already have the capability with high end authoring apps. eDVD is really targeted to the prosumer/small business audience. Not sure how 'big brother' would use eDVD to serepticiously monitor low volume discs that they have no claim to? I'm personally not worried that Sonic and Hollywood has any interest in what I create (hec, I have to register my system to use just about any program I buy now a days). eDVD will go for more than Vegas + DVD-A, so I think the bigger issue is how bad does one want to add a few more bells and whistles to justify the added cost.

Newbie question on this. Couldn't you use something like Nero that lets you creat a multi format cd/dvd to have your dvd-rom section accessible on a computer. I may be talking about something totally unrelated so please excuse a blithering idiot.

You can add folders and the like to your disc with Nero and some other third party burning apps, but you can't launch web pages and other stuff while the disc is being viewed. eDVD will allow you to do that. It's not an authoring app, so you have to author your disc with some other app first, and add the extra material and links later with this program.
