Okay, I downloaded Firefox, Video Download Helper & the Video Converter. All of the components are talking to each other. But every time I try to download and convert a video, they all fail!

I selected the download and convert option and used their presets to download and convert to AVI, QT, MPEG4, M{EG1&2 and WMV, all failed. The closet I got was with the QT download. It said that it failed but when I launched it, it took me back to the website and played the video inside video helper. When I tried to open it with the QT app directly, it failed, saying that it was a format that QT did not recognize. I had similar results with it launching Real Player for some reason, and RP couldn't find the file as it had not actually downloaded.

What am I doing wrong?

Have a try at JDownloader.

Does the job well but make sure you get it from JDownloader.org.

Download the video as the original source format.
If you want to convert it, do so later.

If I use the download window right underneath the video it works. But it sends the video to the downloads folder in the :C drive, which I then have to copy over to the video drive. If I use the download & convert button up in the tool tray I get a download with zero bits. Why isn't that one working?

Don't use Download and Convert. Use Download, or just click on the file you want.

I went over to http://jdownloader.org/ and my virus protection software went nuts and absolutely refused to open, citing numerous high level threats! I'll pass on that one.

Just checked JDownloader.org and no problems here. Have been using that site for years. A very helpful forum there.

False positives?
