Wedding Music copyright in Australia

After much research and contact with people at APRA and AMCOS, and communicating with people online here, i've finally found a useful url for domestic video producers in australia.

Speaking with a senior licensing officer at APRA, it almost seemed that there were no viable music licensing options for domestic use, all until i mentioned that someone else told me otherwise.

Thanks Farss for your response to one of my posts last month, it was only after i mentioned what you said to someone at APRA that they asked someone else there for more info.

Bowman,
glad I was able to help!
I've had a few arguments with APRA over the years so for once it was good to see them providing a useful service based on common sense. I believe many similar deals are available in European countries as well.
One thing I'm a little worried about is if the FTA deal will have any impact on this, it's possible the FTA could have impacts in many areas that we as yet don't know anything about. Probably even those drafting the text of the thing wouldn't even know about them. Although I think for once the Labor party has been a bit on the ball and managed to force through some amendments targeted specificaly at the media business.
That aside, the APRA licence is cheaper than I thought it would be, I might even get a licence myself. Weddings are the last thing I'm interested in shooting but from time to time I'm asked to convert VHS weddings to DVD and although I'm propably in the clear doing that I think this deal that APRA have going should be supported by anyone remotely connected with this side of the industry.

Bob.
