Weird freezing but non functions?? (Changed computers)

Ill be editing and randomly my audio cuts out. If I click anywhere or press any keys the scrubber will just stop moving where it is. My cursor can still move and if I put it over anything it is seeing that it's there but can't click on anything. Sony doesn't stop responding either, I have to force close it then registers that 'there is a problem'. This is all happening on a new computer (Ryzen 7, GTX 1060 and 16Gb of RAM) so should be able to handle it just fine. My memory maxes out at around 37% and CPU at 3%. PLEASE HELP! I have an 1 1/2 hour documentary here and I cant work on it!

*Edit* I have just made a new video on my computer without this issue, but once I tried to open other Vegas files from my old computer they do not work. Seems to be an issue then of files from my other computer...

Likely this is a codec issue for certain media. Try a new project on your new computer using the media from one of the old veg files that won't work correctly on your new machine.

Is there a way to fix this? This is a huge project file and I can't restart. All the footage that is used in the edit that was all done on my new computer was shot on my same camera as well as my documentary.

Transcode source files to a more Vegas friendly format, XAVC-I works very well in Vegas at reasonable file size. Sony Catalyst Browse is a free tool that I use to achieve such task. Once converted, you can replace the files in your Vegas project with the new ones.

Narrow down the problem. If this is just one timeline for the entire one and a half hours, try working with just part of the timeline in a new project. Copy the very beginning 5 minutes to a new timeline. See if that runs ok. It may just be one part of the timeline that is causing the problem.

Do you still have your old system?

Yeah I do have my old system but it's an 7 year old HP laptop so this was a big upgrade. It is one timeline but has multiple tracks. It can't be one part of the timeline either, I can go to any part and it happens after about 5 seconds to which anytime it happens in a random spot. I really don't want to try and move project files cause I have applied effects, markers, audio levels ect.

*EDIT: I did move everything to a new timeline and I did not have this issue. I may do this as a fix but is there a way to copy across audio levels, muted layers, bin folders and the rest??

I'd copy part of the timeline, say 1 minute to a fresh Vegas project on your new machine. Copy whatever comes over .. forget about all the rest for the moment .. Does the problem exist? If it does not, can you copy 5 minutes? And so on until you hit a problem. This is called narrowing the problem down to find out what is causing the problem.

It's Sony Vegas Pro 13.0. I did as you said and no errors occurred. I'm now coping across everything to a new timeline and hoping for the best...

You can copy volume envelopes, markers, even FX .. but keep checking as you go for problems .. save various versions that you think are stable as you go .. the idea is to find the problem. Use google to search for any problems copying different elements of your project to a new time line. You are not the first one to try to copy a complex project to a fresh timeline.

I did that with my whole timeline and I thought I had it sorted but after running the video for about 10 seconds it did the exact same thing as before. So I back tracked and remembered that the music stopped first then the program stopped. So I removed all music from the project and now it runs perfectly fine! I'm slowly re-importing all footage back into my file and seems to be running smoothly. I dont know what the issue could've been...?

Audio Codec issues no doubt. Media and the right codec is generally the culprit when old .veg files won't run properly. If it's a system problem, then new projects will not run right either.
