Editing in Vegas is so intuitive and simple I usually do it very quickly. What I spend most time on is to repair and compensate for my inadquate work behind the camera.
- because I was too lazy or stupid to use a tripod.
- because I didn’t bring lights.
- because I underestimated the background noise.
- because I overestimated the microphone.
- because I didn’t shoot enough angles and stuff to cut to.
- because I didn’t realize that the autofocus was looking at something unimportant.
- because I didn’t think the stupid helicopter would make so much WIND and throw it right at my mic.
Vegas goes a very long way to help me save my shots. But I think it would be a smart move if Sony would create a separate Bad Shot Repair plugin. They could bundle a light version with their DV cameras and make the full version available with Vegas and Screenblast or whatever it’s called. I know the Vegas developers won’t comment on future product details – never have done, never will. But this idea could sell both cameras and NLEs in a big way. I only want 10%.
