Were can I reset capture device ?

I have a JVC BR-DV3000 that I've been using to capture video.
I replaced this deck with a Panasonic AG-DV2500.
Sony will not reconize the new deck. I think whats happening is that the decks are so similar that it confuses the device manager.
The new deck is reconized on a difrent computer that didn't have the JVC listed.
Where can I delete the JVC data so that the new deck will not be confused by the old deck info.

I have a 2500 and sometime when I set it up to capture, it may take several minutes to find the deck. It finally does find it.

I don't know the decks, but they're both firewire? I don't think it stores anything specific about the devices themselves. Is it safe to assume you tried rebooting (cold booting)?

Why did you replace the deck? And in what situation did you replace it? Were you capturing? Did it fail?

Can you put a camera with f/w in/out onto the pc and have VidCap recognise it? Let's check out these options. Come to think about it, can you put the JVC back on it?

At least one JVC device I've connected via firewire to a PC forced Windows to install a new driver. Uninstalling the driver may force Windows to install the correct driver or else use the generic one.
Only thing is I don't know how to uninstall a driver, maybe a Google will answer that.

You should be able to uninstall the old driver via the Device Manager.
You may have to boot up in Safe Mode in order to see all the installed devices.

Just got back to the forum post.
Thanks for the replys .The JVC has the dreaded bios problem that brings up
a "Clean Heads" warning after running only a few tapes after cleaning.
Many have had this issue with the certain 2500s .I spent $'s with JVC to upgrade but the deck quickly developed the same issue.
The Panasonic belongs to a client and I am using it to capture some old DV tapes to his hard drive. I've done this using my laptop computer since my
editing computer has this driver issue.
I see nothing in device manager that would point to the deck.
There are USB and firewire controllers but no devices as such.
Any other thoughts?
