What are the avi.svk files attached to every video clip I capture with vegas?

There may be an easy answer to this question, but I 've been wondering this for a few years...here it goes..

Every time I capture clips off my camcorder onto the computer, each clip is stored with a unopenable file next to it, with a "avi.svk" extention. I'm not sure what these files are, but I don't like seeing them when I'm organizing my hard drive....veg. files also have this additional file next to them. What are these files and do I need to keep them...it's seems like I should..

Thanks,

I don't get those files when I capture. Did a very quick search with Google but came up with nothing. I'd recommend you keep the additional veg thingys. Thay are backup files in case you crasch.

Are you talking about the ".sfk" files? They represent the audio waveform graphic that is generated the first time you bring an avi file into Vegas. Since it takes a few seconds to create it, Vegas figures it ought to save it alonside the actual avi file, so the next time you look at that avi file on the Vegas timeline, the audio waveform will be there immediately.

Thanks! So I shouldn't delete them right?

If it's the sfk you can keep or delete them. If deleted Vegas will make new ones next time you open that project = takes a little time if there's many.
Keep the veg-related ones.
