Using 8x Verbatim print to hub with Plextor 716A burner. No problems but don't know about longevity. The Plextor burn is visibly better than any burner I have had and according to guru buddy its the same as NEC---forgot model, maybe 3510?

4x Ritek and 4x Taiyo Yuden. Don't know what I'll do when these are no longer available. Difficult to find the Riteks right now, especially the non-printable ones.

I'm using Maxell DVD-R x4, but I always burn at x1 so that it burns deeper. Most of my disks with glitches are those that I burned with x4 on most top name brands, I have almost no glitches with the disks I burned with x1. The extra thirty minutes or so is worth it for the reliability.

Maxell DVD-R 4x are made by three different companies, but all good

I have had very good luck with Ritek 4x and 8x. Typically I burn everything at 4x on my Samsung drives.

The 8x TYs seem to be OK in both my burners at 4x burn but I'm very concerned about longevity and errors. Friend of mine tried burning 8x media in 4x Mac drive and the replicators bounced his master as having too many error. 4x media is getting very hard to buy, I've got one supplier with stock who'se rather expensive but even so I think I'll buy a few spindles to keep for masters.

I've now had more than one report of cheap 4x media from a year ago even though well treated refusing to play. Me thinks fairly soon there's going to be hell to pay over this issue once the public realises just how unreliable DVD+/-Rs are.

I'm using TY 8x at 4x-12x speeds with no problems.

Be sure to keep your burner's ROM up to date.

The manufacturers seem to upgrade them often (at least Pioneer does).

Has anyone tried these and are they reliable? I use Uline all of the time and this could be a good source.

1- These are reliable, second only to Verbatim. 2 -They ship same day , if , you order before 9:00 Am (CST) Always use them. I pick-up my orders , 35 minutes drive.

1. Verbatim what ? they do not make disks so your statement makes no sense as a comparison -- plus Verbatim are not top anything all the time - though they have some types which are very good, and some which are crap ..

2. uline uses different suppliers and without media codes you are shooting in the dark -- we have had bad reports of their media but who knows what they are using this week ..

NEVER BUY MEDIA THAT DOES NOT ONLY LIST MEDIA CODES BUT WARRANTS THEY ARE REAL!!!! (MANY FAKES)

3. those prices at uline are high for unknown brand disks anyway ....

Those might be good - right now , or at some point in the past... but don't ever buy media that way !!!

We use TY 8x at our duplication facility. We go through many thousand a month and have very few burn errors. In fact, most of the burn errors can be contributed to errors on the master. I also have a stash of prodisc white inkjet printable 8x DVD's I use at home and they haven't given me any problems yet, although I know they are not considered a top tier supplier.
