Button 14 = Ctrl+Z (Undo)

Button 15 = Ctrl+L (Auto Ripple ON/OFF)

I'd like to do "Shift+B" (Build RAM Preview) as a Button, but have failed. Any ideas?

TIA

Grazie

I created the shift+b with no problem. What issues are you having?

Every now and then I try to get into the habit of using the buttons, but I always end up using the keyboard and mouse again. So I just use mine for the jog and shuttle.

Made a Shift+B applied to a CSP button, make a Selection with the mouse, hit my CSP button and all that happens is the Cursor jumps to the end of the Selection. No RAM build.

Interesting to see how others use the shuttle and I see already that we use them very differently.

For example I use buttons 1-9 for different layout options on my dual screen monitor setup.

12-properties
13- convert stereo track to channel 3 mono
14- external monitor
15-toggle ignore event grouping
16- convert stereo track to channel 1 mono
17- convert stereo track to channel 2 mono

I use the keyboard for many, many commands which is why I generally try to use the Shuttle Pro for things that take more time using the keyboard and mouse. Things like shift-b, split, etc. are just as fast for me to use the keyboard.

Erik: "shift-b"

How?

I have a custom layout that suits me but probably not that good for anyone else. My top buttons open menus mainly like import media and prefs, next row down is for functions like 'multicam on, multicam off'.. Jog / Shuttle as is, left / right buttons are my PLAY STOP. (thats space and enter) And at the bottom, the four buttons are my multicam selectors 1-4.

Graham, not sure if this helps but you can edit the buttons as you like them. Select the button you want to edit, then selecting shift (shows SHIFT +) then press b, (shows SHIFT + b) as the keystroke. Apply and done for that key.

PS edit:
"Made a Shift+B applied to a CSP button, make a Selection with the mouse, hit my CSP button and all that happens is the Cursor jumps to the end of the Selection"

I should have read that.. seems you did this already.

Grazie,

What do you have your RAM preview amount set for?

I see something like this when the computer doesn't need to do a ram preview (can preview without it) but otherwise it works as expected.

1gb.

Sure, Dave, I'm only selecting a section which needs building, FXing, transitions and so on.

What now?

any chance that you have done some customizing on your keyboard and accidentally change this function?

Nope.

When I press Shift+B I do get the "Build" activity going on and the correct outcome.

So, the KB is presenting the correct sequence to Vegas.

Any other thoughts? Inspirational notions? I'll try anything . . . .

Cheers

Sure its the correct profile selected for your version of vegas? the .exe target is set to the correct version? (32/64) or whatever... Should work.

I can't think of anything else. Here is an image of my setting that works. Maybe something will come of it. I am actually using Vegas 11, I just didn't change the name in the controller settings, but I changed the target app.

Erik,

yeah, that is why I posted. I have some buttons programmed, but I find I use the keyboard on someof them so I am trying to find how others have theirs programmed to see if there are more useful ways to use it.

Just checked a SHIFT + B button on the shuttle here, worked first time. Strange.

Maybe the difference is related to the age and manufacturing location of your Shuttles???

Nick, that link is, wel,l odd?

HAH, success!

OK, I kept forgetting the need to re-select away from "Global" to "Sony - Vegas 10" (using 10 at present . . oh yes . . ). So, everytime I was making changes to what I could see, on the external dropdown, as "Sony Vegas Pro 10" having the focus, that within the CSP Menuing Global was still the selection. I can see maybe why it is designed that way, but hey . . And yes, I've been bitten by that before.

Now that I've gotten that correct, I now have "Shift+B" on Button 1 and "Play (Spacebar)" on my Button 4. That works kinda neat as that's where my left and drops over the CSP.

So, THANK you all!!!

The tipping point was that Nick's Forum link suggested a fault - there isn't one, but that made me deinstall and reinstall the CSP driver - twice! And firstly recognising and then remembering that although it says VP has focus, the CSP driver menu still remains at Global. For me going out of the driver and coming back gives me Global. I think that is still silly?

Anyways, thanks again. Happy camper here!

Sorry to divert this thread, but maybe somebody will make use of my "User" experience?

Cheers

And Dave, if I had followed your lead, and had had the patience to apply your CSP Menu recipe, I'd had gotten here earlier - so a belated thank you to you too.
