What "authoring" features does VideoFactory have?

I am new to all this, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

Looking at the documentation, I can't figure out if VideoFactory 2.0 allows you to create DVD's and VCD's with the "chapter menus". Is this called "authoring?" Also, if VideoFactory can't do this function, what are you guys using for this purpose?

Also, what analog capture devices does VideoFactory support? I can't seem to get it to recognize my Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB device.

AFAIK VF presently is limited to burning a single video in VCD format to a CD. For more advanced features I suggest you take a look at Nero that offers a suite of CD burning tools. With it you can burn VCD, SVCD, XVCD, add a menu, do chapters, have more than one video on the CD (subject to space) etc.. For basic how-to visit http://www.vcdhelp.com and read some of the many detailed articles accessible from the menu at the left of the page.

Your Hauppauge device should have come with a program called Win_TV
Capture. It might not have been installed by default; you might have to
install it manually from the software CD that came with it. If it's not on
the CD, you can download it here:

It's written specifically for the internal PCI version of the WinTV, but it
might work with the USB drivers. It's a very simple and easy to use
capture program that creates .avi files. It's also very tiny so it should
download quickly.

My biggest concern for you is that you're using a USB device. Full frame
uncompressed video data can easily be over 100Mbps, and USB is
limited to about 12Mbps under the best conditions. This means that
you'll have to use smaller frames, slower frames per second rates, and
fewer bits per pixel. I hope it works out ok for you though.
